Hi

I was able to obtain this Nikon F - Nikkor which I didnt realize at first but it says Nikkor instead of Nikon on the prism. After some googling I have found out it is supposed to be German export variant, with very early serial number. Camera seems to be working, my question is, is it worth CLA/repair ? what is the possible price for these ? Camera comes with 35mm 2.8 lens.

Thanks for advice

I prefer the later through the lens metering FTn finder. Otherwise Nikon F is a great camera, I use a couple of them.

Uncommon German variation, because "Nikon" was too similar to Zeiss "Ikon".
The red dot before the serial number is also significant to collectors.
Definitely worth a CLA.
Just curious...does the nameplate under the metered prism also say Nikkor?

Hm , do you know what does the red dot mean?

Yes it says Nikkor on the body nameplate as well as the prism. But it says Nippon Kogaku on top plate, shouldnt it be Nikkor also ?

Thanks for reply

Nippon Kogaku is the company name....always has been. So no, it shouldn't say Nikkor.
about the red dot:

Sometime in the 67xxx range, the Nippon Kogaku emblem by the shutter release was changed to "Nikon" text.
