After my last repair project failed because I couldn't correct the focus infinity stop at the maximum zoom position, I'm wondering how to do this with Nikkor AF.

In particular, whether the focus stop is the same for all focal lengths.

With the Nikkor 24-120/3.5~5.6 AF-D (IF) I was not able to adjust the infinity stop.

My previous experience with MF zoom lenses from different manufacturers shows that this is solved differently for practically every lens.

In most cases, however, the adjustment should be possible without having to deeply disassemble the lens.

Many Nikkor AF lenses focus behind infinity by design.

No infinity stop makes them a little tricky to use on manual focus cameras. At least that is what I told my wife when I said I needed a manual focus Nikkor collection too to go with my new-to-me N2000.

Thank you!

I conclude from this that every Nikkor AF Zoom lens is more or less individually constructed, just like with other manufacturers.

This means that in one case the infinity stop can simply be adjusted from the outside, in another case the lens has to be dismantled.

I suspect you have seen the service manuals for Nikon zoom lenses...
