When I acquired a second hand Nikon FM2 from my local shop the dealer suggested I add an SB22's flash. This was years ago and I have only used the flash a few times, preferring available light for B&W shooting.
Last night I saw the "new crop" of raccoon kits rummaging around the yard and thought this might make a nice photo opp. If I turn on the outside flood lights the little ones take off as do their overseers. Can anyone suggest a web site where I could get a crash course in wildlife flash photography?

Thanks Much

Put your trash in cans with tightly closing lids.

They maybe cute today but the problems they will bring later will not.

Hi Steve,
The garbage thing is not an issue in my case. Our local trash collector (Trius) has a wonderful refuse container called the "Trius Dolly".A huge, wheeled, plastic bin with a critter proof lid.

I must be one of the few people in North America who likes raccoons. When I had a house on the ocean, they used to come out on the lawn every night, and often during the day. I used to feed the kits by hand. They were never a problem, but I suppose being on the ocean there was lots better food around than garbage. A few altercations with my standard Dachshunds were narrowly averted however. Attached is a photo of one of the kits on my porch.

I've heard that there's a rabies epidemy with the Canadian racoons, so you better watch yourself...

But they are the darnest cutest little infection vectors!

When I was a kid hanging out in northern Michigan, we had a family friend that had a pretty incredible relationship with a Racoon (sounds strange, I know). He befriended it when it was just a kit and built a small "house" for it to come and go as it pleased. When he would leave to go home from his cabin, the Racoon would move out into the woods and go about its life. When Jerry would return, that Racoon would show up within a day and move back in to the house. Stangest thing you ever saw. This went on for several years and they were great friends.

I was not bothered by the racoons in the neighborhood, probably because there was nothing for them to eat on my property.

My neighbor found that they had nested in the attic and between the floors of their house. The nest had been used for a number of years so you can imaging the smell and the _____ that had seeped between the walls and had to be cleaned out. :surprised:
