Nick Brandt is my age, so I hope he's around and in good health, and maybe he has a google alert or some such set up, so maybe he might check in. On APUG, there should be no inhibition about resurrecting old threads. It's better that users do some research and expand an old thread than start a new one on something that's already been discussed, in my opinion.
That said, let me quote what I already posted in a now-deleted post, slightly revised:
While it's great to have Nick Brandt here discussing his process, discussions of scanning for print purposes are generally off topic for APUG, but they are exactly the sort of thing discussed at APUG's sister site,
http://dpug.org. Just so this doesn't go too far astray, let's say, Nick, if you want to tell us what you do, that's okay, but, others, if this turns into a discussion of recommendations about one kind of scanning vs. another kind of scanning, making digital negatives, and what atelier does the best hybrid prints, then that would better be pursued on the hybrid digital/analogue forum.
