I was looking to see if there was any interest in the neapug group going up to visit Gary Samson, photo department chair at the NH Institute of Art in Manchester, NH. for a "gathering" of sorts...sometime over the summer or early fall...maybe put together some workshops and/or shooting. Maybe one or two days?? They have a number of students who shoot LF and would fit in nicely with our gathering. So...any thoughts or ideas?

I'd be interested, Manchester is about a 25 minute drive for me. Would this be LF only or could us MF types participate?

Drew,

Count me in too. I've taken several photo courses up there. Gary and his teaching staff are accomplished photographers and great teachers whose passion for photography, especially film based silver and alternative processes has kept me coming back to learn more.

Sounds interesting... if the timing is right I'm in.

I get in touch w/Gary and see when is good...and report back here shortly.

a potential weekend is June 13th-14th... Does that fit in with any of your schedules?

Hmm, there's a chance. I don't know exactly what I'll be doing when, but this doesn't conflict with Photostock out in MI.

i am free and might like to give it a try. Any discussion on specifics of the weekend?

So far those dates are free for me. It will be good to see everyone again and meet some new faces.

I'd definitely put it on my short list of possibilities for that weekend. I'll keep my eyes on this thread....

Gary is out of town till this coming week...but does have some workshop ideas...so, we'll get back to you probably by the 20th.

Gary and I have set up a time to talk tomorrow (Mon) evening...the results to be posted here soon after. Thanks....

So..ok. We're talking about meeting up in Manchester in the am...(for me...about 7:30) at the Red Arrow Diner for breakfast. Gary would meet us there and after eating we'd do some urban landscape photography...especially some old mill architecture nearby. For the mid-day, we'd continue to shoot...maybe do a small lunch and at around 2pm, meet back at the school to first view a student photography show which will be hanging at that time and then we could take in one or two workshops 1. a 19th century handmade process like albumen printing or 2. a demonstration of the wet-plate process. We could also scan 4x5 negatives and print the images on their large format Epson archival printers. That evening we could do dinner (plenty of restaurants) and then do some nighttime shooting. For those who stay over, Gary said we could process some film in the am...do some more shooting and/or head home. What does everyone think?

Sounds cool so far.

This sounds interesting. I can check my schedule when I get home.
