Warm, I'll be happy with just not being mugged....

I've been busy cleaning up the mean streets so you city sissies can swagger safely around town.

These girls are doing a good job at promoting the place too!

Sissy here is goin'-a-swaggin' tonight. But...swagger to what and where for the more sexy of the Terrible Twosome (moi)?? Bloody main drag is like a cemetery with lights after 6pm.

Adorable! I like this stuff indeed. A wooden iPhone cover??

Still... where are we supposed to be going, and when??
LJH should be brainstormin' by now, but has fallen silent.

Ok lads pick a date and location. As I have missed the last couple for various reasons, the sooner a date and location is agreed I can either plan to come along or send apologies

Suggestions:
Point Lonsdale (yes, coffee nearby too...)
Swan Bay foreshore
Barwon Heads (mangroves)/The Bluff / 13th Beach (not in bad weather!!)
Waterfront / Steampacket (coffee never more than 300m away...)
Avalon Beach (old boat sheds)
Werribee South (even older boat sheds)

Anglesea / Anglesea River
Fairhaven Beach
... the further you go along here, the prettier it gets.
Lorne / Erskine River (upstream, e.g. The Sanctuary)
Henderson Falls (easy walk)

Where else?

North Shore, for those wanting a little industry... Never been to the You Tangs or Dog Rocks, are they worth the while?

Pt Lonsdale for me. Front and back beach. Rock formations. Cliched piers. Lighthouse. Cemetery. Sunrise if you're there at Sparrows'...

• Dock Rocks Batesford has a definite 'pull' in terms of attractiveness, but it varies with the weather: dark and stormy days can give it a most forboding look. If it rains (nowhere to hide!), it doesn't then look forboding, just miserable.
• Old Monier Bridge Fyansford (esp. autumn)

I have not been to the You Yangs for decades; but out there on the lonely basalt plains around Lara and Little River one can come across early settlers' ruins.

Got a visitor here from Geelong Camera Club now. Dinna will now be served. 'Night!

If Pt Lonsdale is the go, can I suggest picking a date around the tides? I think one real attraction of this place is the amazing rock formations hiding below the water. Low tide they're visible, low low tide and they can be incredible, plus better, ie, safer, access to the tunnel at the very end of the point... come to think of it, even just that spot around the lighthouse could satisfy the naturists (naturalists? Sorry Gary, you'll have to remind me again which is which :whistling:) and the Industrialists, with the old gun turrets etc.

A quick squiz on Mr Tides says there's some low, almost Spring Tide looking levels coming up on the weekend of the 25th, with a low around lunchtime... next weekend, too soon?

 Naturists (nudies) at Point Lonsdale!? Come off the glue, son! Naturalists yes, similar to Sir David Rabbitburrow...

I agree with the rock formations though, but these look far better in sunset or sunrise light. I have Ilfochrome prints to prove it.
The other option is very low tide in the evening where you can walk quite some way out and photograph the lighthouse, with its reflection in still rockpools. B&W folks may not care much for the lighting but the entire area is a treat when the sun goes down.

I have a roadie to the Flinders Ranges/Port Augusta from mid-September, likely around 16th onward.

Absolutely agree, I was just thinking of the poor big-city fellas who sound like they want to be well beyond our city limits before nightfall! :bandit:

Kill 2 stones with the one bird and do a Satdee night/Sundee morning shoot?

I'd like to do this in late Sept, perhaps 22nd/23rd?

Any interest in the weekend 22nd/23rd Sept?

Looks like I am out if it is 22/23 Sept. This is the first w/e of the school hols and I will be away the family.

No commitment from me 14th to 29th September. Plans for interstate travel in flux.

If you are intending to stay overnight in Point Lonsdale, do your research now as you are timing the outing with school holidays and most non-camping accommodation is booked out. Camping is cheap but theft from tents (and OF tents!) is a worry. Not sure if the campground will be open: IIRC from Melbourne Cup long weekend only -- IDK. Roofed accommodation otherwise is pricey.

I'm at Gold Street Studios the week before , so 22nd 23rd are out for me, expecting two weekends in a row on the loose with the Technika is out of the question .
