Loren, I have a non-original ring that was made made for this purpose. And I don't use it so you're welcome to have it (it was given to me, so postage from the Netherlands only). It fits inside the condenser house perfectly, but it is a 4mm instead of 3mm ring. Still, it is a lot closer. In fact, many Ic owners don't know there actually exist two rings: many times the 3mm spacer ring lays on a 0,5mm spacer ring and many times, when the 3mm ring is not present, there is the 0,5mm ring. Don't ask me why!
If you do take this 4mm ring, I suggest you take out the 0,5mm ring if it is there. To find out:
- take out the negative holder (safer)
- take off the AN glass (otherwise you will make it drop when taking out the condenser)
- take out the condenser: turn and take out the bayonet ring that keeps the spring down and lift the spring out. Then, best is to place two fingers of each hand inside the condenser's round 'wall' and pull it up
- there a ridge all around on which the condenser rests. On that ridge can be the 0,5mm spacer and it is where you place the 3mm (or 4mm) spacer . . .
The original ring hardly ever shows up on its own . . .
I clean AN glasses (and condensers too) using warm water and some soap for the dishes. With a very soft sponge. Then rinse with warm water, shake water off and let dry near a heater, or so.
Send me a PM if you want this ring
