Hello all,

Newbie question here. I was just lucky enough to get a Linhof Technika III (not the Graflock Back) and had a bit of a stupid question. I've never shot 4x5 before, but are the film holders universal? I know there are tons of issues with the Technika III being pre-modernization as far as lens boards go and such, but I can't seem to find info on film holders. I'd like to pick up quite a few as I'm hiking with the Rig and would like to be able to make ~20 exposures before returning to homebase.

Any details or any good reference specifically aimed at purchasing for the T3 would be greatly appreciated. Additionally I can't figure out how my serial fits in the production schedule. Its in the 5Ks and according to https://www.cameraquest.com/techs.htm the only 4 digit serials were in the 2Ks.

Thanks all

Yes the 4"x5" film holders are standard sized.

Thank you for the quick response. I was concerned as I know the T3 doesn't have the Graflock back, but didn't know if that was for whole back swapping (as for a 120 back) or for ever par of the rear including film holders.

I have 2 Tech IIIs and love them. I just pulled one out and its serial is in the 5600s. I think the other one is ion the 5000s also. In case you are ever tempted, in order to use a Grafmatic 6 shot holder you will have to remove a mm or two off the upright plate at the far end of the film holder channel. Very easy to disassemble to get to it and do.
