I've been living here for 3 years now. This country is visually jaw dropping. Adequate pro camera shops are in all the major city centers (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch). If anyone is interested in planning a trip to NZ let me know. I'll do anything I can to help out.

Good to know, I live in Mexico, central part, many beautiful and interesting places to photograph. Sadly not much of material support, very few camera shops.....

I live in the suburbs of Chicago. Lots of camera shops, but a lot of similar neighborhoods. It can get kind of boring and you have to look really hard to "see" something to photograph, but it also helps develop your eye. I also look for interesting parks and forest preserves.

I would love to go to New Zealand. I have seen photos posted by Mike Holloman, who shoots medium format on slide film. His shots are gorgeous and show the country at its best.

You make a good point Pat.

We bcome so use to seeing what we are confronted with on a daily basis, that it becomes difficult to "see" photo opportunities. This is a problem we all face. I live in southern Germany where the landscape can be really quite beautiful and the architecture is both old and interesting.

But let's not forget the old saying, "the grass is always greener..."

I hear ya. I guess it's like writers block sometimes. I'll have to check out Mike's photos.
