I've finished my new website at last. Enough to stop tinkering and publish it, anyway. It took much (that should be MUCH) longer than I'd hoped, mainly because I had to get to grips with dreamweaver.

I wanted something simple and smooth-running, that was somehow my own aswell, which is why I chose (probably stubbornly) to have a go at building it myself. It's more 'presentation' than marketing - a sampler of some of the stuff I've done over the past ten years or so.

I had a few teething problems transferring to the remote server - holding my breath now that I've sorted them. Please do let me know if you come across glitches I haven't spotted/ or irritations.
thank you

the address is the same as before -

Really nice Cate.
On my quick look, I noticed that the links above when you are in the portfolio are broken.

Thanks ari, did you mean the 'about' and 'contact' links? - they worked when I just tried - there isn't an active link on the 'portfolio' heading at the top there because you are on the portfolio page - the other live links should change colour when you mouse over them..

I see it only happens in "people", where the "about" and "contact", but also the "portfolio" above give me an Error 404 when clicked.

Thanks - that's very helpful - they must have been running on my cache but I just checked on another computer & found them - should be working all right now, I hope that's all of them.

Looks great Cate. I enjoyed reading your about page & your images are lovely.

Hopefully most who look at your site will be more au fait with how site work than I am and the issues I mention below are only issues to "Ned Ludds" like me but I was expecting to see how to navigate my way round from the opening page i.e. to find all the linkages there. I took pot luck and clicked on the opening photo and then found the links. It might also be helpful to indicate how one returns to the portfolio. Again I discovered this by trial and error by clicking on the box of tiny squares between the forward and backward arrows.

The good thing about it was that it operates at high speed.

Best of luck

Quite nice, no glitches.

Having watched my wife patiently teach herself the language required to build her own website, I know exactly what you went through, she is a quilter.

Is the recent work picture, Dec 2007, a self portrait?

Mick.

Great website, Cate; worked very well and fast. Loved the Spotlight image like Suzanne. Wandered through East Anglia. Thank you.

Hi Cate

Very pleasurable visit to you new site. You are a dark hoarse with your landscape work. So glad you have shared it with the world. Very nice. I very much like the shed and tools series. Great to see it as a complete group of photographs. My favourite though, has to be the photograph of the sink. Not only is it a great record shot, it is made with such warmth and really conjures up thoughts of yesteryear.

Very well done.

Best

Many thanks for taking the time to look and for the comments and suggestions - they are much appreciated.

Just to say I've been tweaking a bit, including taking on board some suggestions here - also the titles of the documents (that appear in the browser with each page) completely missed my radar in my enthusiasm to get the site up, so looked very messy, now sorted. I know I lost some pages this morning when I was editing, sorry if anyone was looking at the time, that shouldn't happen again. I've changed the settings and checked 20 times! fingers crossed anyway.
If any persistant problem SHOULD occur & you notice it (shouldn't happen, but...) I'd be very grateful if you could let me know. Thank you.
