WEB SITE

I love the site....waaay cooool!!
Best, Peter

Get rid of the music and the guest book.

I agree, I find website with music annoying to go to. Guest books arent very professional and haven't been "in" since the late 90's

I would like to see examples of your handcoloured prints since your site name makes viewers think that's what they are going to see. Your B&W shots look fine.

Cheers
TEX

Agree about the music and guest book. And it's voilĂ , not wha la.

I LOVE the music (you could do a lot worse). And who cares about guest books being "in"? Film isn't exactly in either.

It's a great idea for a website!

The music is fine. DON'T get rid of it. Just make the controls ever-so-slightly more obvious to those who might not see the "stop play" button. I love the site. The guest book link is fine... no need to dump it. I think it's very well done and you deserve a lot of positive credit. Oh... and the pics are great too.

Sheesh... what's with all the negativity here?

I am assuming the idea is to sell some photographs.

Anything to make the potential buyer look away is a bad thing.

Guest books are from the late 90's and the music is just not a good idea.

I don't think my comment was "negativity" it was an honest response. I don't like music on web sites, I never got to the guest book because I could not get past the music. No disrespect was intended.

Sorry Miskuss. No criticism toward you in particular was intended. But overall the responses here have been mostly negative. Gee whizz, there's a stop music button that works perfectly even when jumping to new pages. All he really needs to do is make the controls a bit more prominent.

IMHO, it's very nicely done!!

No need to apologize Mike1234. It's an open forum and we all state our honest opinions with respect. Cheers!!!

Hi
I really like the photos!
However, I also don't like the music loop over and over. It bugs me! I never use guest book, e-mail contact info is fine.
I also noticed dark spots in the sky areas, processing errors.
Like I said, I really like your vision.
Michael

Hello APUGers....

I hope this is ok to plug a site.......

Just got my first site up and running....

It is Dead Link Removed

From my journey a few months ago.

Comments are welcome!1

Thanks...

Actually I see identical spots in some of those photos. I'm thinking it's more like a dusty lens + stopped down a lot, or... well you all know the other...

But I really like the website and your photos. Gotta agree with the posters who said to get rid of the music. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will get me to scramble for the "X" button more than a noisey website. Especially if I'm listning to music while I'm browsing, as I am now. If you're doing the website as a business, listen to your potential customers. It adds nothing and subtracts a lot for many visitors.

I find the music apt.

But I don't get the idea behind the site in its current state:
You speak about handcoloured film-based b&w photographs, but only show uncoloured ones, and even state that they all are made as digital capture!
I'm confused.

I don't mind the music as it starts with the theme from the TV show "Route 66", then goes to Bobby Troup's famous song. So though it's obvious, it's appropriate. As I'm old enough to have seen the show as a young kid, maybe that's why I see it that way.
I seldom find music enhances these sorts of things, so I can relate, but that's usually because the music is overdramatic or hokey or doesn't relate to the subject.
At any rate, if I encounter music I don't want, I just reduce the volume or turn it off.

As suggested earlier, how about putting on the "enter" page an option of viewing with music or without. There are still people in the world with dialup or other slow connections which are slowed down by the music, or in which the music is choppy while downloading.

I agree a rewrite would be beneficial, especially the confusion about "digital images". Just take that out.

You might wanna check out your price list page.
You may familiar with the terms fine...

I'm new to this, so what might the "other" be?

You can always give the option to turn the music off
It's there.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I do like the idea of two Enter choices.......one with music and one without. Didn't realize that music could evoke such strong emotions...

But I'm really surprised about such strong feelings on a guestbook. Being a sensitive 90's guy myself, I really don't understand the anti-guest book people. Hey, it was included with what I had designed....Not a big deal either way....

Yes, the images on the site now are digital. I have just processed my film, (about 30 rolls) and am deciding the best way to get them online.....Perhaps a new thread will be best for suggestions.

I explained, I thought, in detail why they are not hand colored yet.....and why they are digital.....I wanted to get it up and going asap.....I'm thinking it is going to be a very long process to get all the prints hc......
