I wonder how ilford will respond to this as the travel wide offers the camera with a pinhole included. Their Titan 4x5 pinhole that features the same plastic build is a bit more expensive at $219 (b&h).

Ok, that's about $25 worth of film and paper. Still the Titan is configured for pinhole only while the Travelwide has a helical with 20mm of travel and can use various 90mm lenses besides shipping with a pin hole cap. Ben said that, just for asking, they will also ship the 65mm front plate to backers who ordered the 90 version. This means that with a screwdriver and a little effort you could convert the 90 to a 65mm pin hole camera, and then switch back to the 90 if desired. Quite a sweet deal for those who backed the project.

I don't disagree with you, just pointing out that the Titan comes with a few extras that have monetary value.

You also buy into the quality of Ilford, Harman, and Walker cameras.

But either way, yes, the Travelwide looks very appealing. I'm already thinking about what to do with my tax refund...

They just posted another update today regarding progress. It's looking like they're pretty close to assembly and delivery, but it may still be June/July before they ship.

Which is pretty much what I figured all along given the complexity of this project. People set optimistic time goals because they're swept up with enthusiasm, and no doubt feel pressured to make the goal as early as possible to encourage backers, but then reality happens.

I'll be happy to have it whenever it does show up; I just wish it could have been here in time to demo it for my Intro to Large Format class. Actually, I really wish it could have been here in time to take to Paris as a dedicated wide-angle camera, last October, but obviously THAT didn't happen.

At least it looks like it'll make it by the September trip to the Grampians!

Now I just gotta decide what to do with lenses. The 90SWD probably won't fit, so it's either SA90 on the wrong shutter with guesstimated aperture markings, or the 90 Angulon (keep one, sell the other, leave the SWD for the Toyo).
I scored a centre filter for my 65SA the other day for only $50, definitely getting the 65 kit...

Yes, most likely. The Travelwide features a standard international 4×5 back. You may need to unscrew the spring back and use ball bungees or heavy rubber bands to attach the camera to the holder.

OK, if you read the details in the Kickstarter campaign announcements it turns out that they are funding a range of design and production upgrades for the camera and its components.

The a Travelwide did get off the ground after major difficulty with the helicoid focusing design. Mine was so stiff, that it eventually broke. I did manage to get a few decent images when I brought it over to Japan on a shoot. I now use it for pinhole work. They still have their website but I'm not sure if they still make the camera.

I use mine for pinhole as well. The helicoid on mine is not that bad, but I really only use it for pinhole work anyway. I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, especially since I haven't heard anything from the TravelWide makers in ages, but if my memory serves right, at the end of the process they swore they would never make another camera again (which was largely their fault for shitty communication with their backers during the Kickstarter process - they got soured by getting bombarded with "dude, where's my f'in camera?" requests when they would go two months at a time without posting any updates).

I also recall them becoming quite jaded, saying when this is done, they're done. Strange that their website is still up, though. Enjoying mine for pinhole. Sadly, I lost the pinhole that they provided. Luckily I have a set of interchangeable pinholes that I use.
