I'd like to see a schematic of the elements, because that's the shortest 90mm lens I've ever seen.

I know I won't be getting one, I'm perfectly happy with the Canon FD 85mm f1.2 L, that I've had for more than thirty years, that's a better lens than I'm a photographer.

Any idea what the different colors for the elements represent?

Cosina typically use light blue to indicate aspherical and pink to represent "abnormal partial dispersion" .

While I will not be purchasing one of these as I have the Nikkor 85 f/1.4, it would certainly be on my shopping list as a serious contender for travelling light and running 28mm, 50mm and then this small 90mm for my longest focal length.

The best part is the filter size, at 52mm and with the 90mm included in a travelling kit, one could use the same HN-2 lens hood and the same filters across all three lenses. A bit short for the 90mm, but certainly usable and better than nothing.

The cost of this lens being $800 AUD, is certainly around the price of current Nikkor 85 1.4 lens. Admittedly not really in the same ball park with regard to outright speed, I would suggest that wouldn't matter. I think the pricing is good, the physical size is good, the filter ring size is good and that scalloped focusing ring should be divine to use with the metal helices.

Thanks for this information Henning, much appreciated.

Hello Sal,

I look forward to a full report after you've used used one on your F6, Henning.

no problem at all! I will do it for you!
Just send me the lens and I will run an extremely detailed test report exclusively for you........:D:wink:.

Well, I already have several excellent to outstanding Nikon F mount lenses in this focal length range:
- Nikkor 1.8/85 AF-D (excellent, especially the price-performance ratio)
- Nikkor 2.5/105 AI-S (Nikon's legendary portrait classic, a really nice lens)
- 2x AF-D Nikkor 2/105 DC (outstanding lens with capabilities most Nikonians don't know).

Therefore I don't need another lens in that focal length range...........
but............
this new Voigtländer is looking so much tempting..........:whistling: .
And Voigtländer has introduced several really outstanding lenses recently, like e.g. the 35mm APO and 50mm APO for the M mount.

Best regards,
Henning
