I'd also like to congratulate you on being bold enough to "go for it", but the strangest thing is that my eye was originally caught by your 1L of D-76 @ 99p as I'm a stop/start guy who pours a lot down the sink! Clearly you'll be wanting me to spend more than 99p, so I'll be looking to order soon!

Another Australian here chiming in to say that you'd have my business if your shipping costs are halfway reasonable. Your prices for film and paper are about 50% of what they charge here:
HP5+/120: AUD8.50 = GBP4.25
MGIVRC 12x16, 10x: AUD40 = GBP20
MGIVRC 8x10, 25x: AUD32 = GBP16
MGIVRC 5x7, 100x: AUD50 = GBP25

Admittedly I'm buying film from the UK via that auction site at the moment and paying about AUD6/roll shipped for most B&W in 120. Not really an option for paper though.

Your SFX price seems high; I paid AUD11/roll for that recently. And your 100-packs of HP5 in 4x5" are more than 4x the price of your 25-packs, which seems very odd.

Any chance you'll be selling slide film?

Are Ilford film prices in the UK lower enough compared to US prices that a large film order plus shipping charges might work out to be more economical than buying from a USA dealer?

Thanks for that everyone. I'm working on Australasia / US shipping costs at present and should have something to report mid next week. Also I'll have a look at the price of 100 sheep 4x5 HP5...thanks for pointing that out - the 100 sheet pack needs to come down. Thanks, Matt

100 sheep? Are they electric?

Recently another local camera shop closed.
I'm wondering if you may have hit on a future business model for physical stores ie:Establish an internet shop as you have done before going to a physical location.
Just a thought.

Just to say we are just about to sign off an order with ADOX - if there is anything specific anyone is after please let me know. We will be getting all the usual stuff to retain as standard stock items (135, 120, 4x5, 5x7, 8x10 in CHS 50 and 100, 135 and 120 in CHS25).

With regard to ADOX - as long as they have it we can have it within about a week. I'll check on the IR - I'm glad you reminded me as a few people have enquired about this - will order both 135 and 120.

We can offer any Ilford product - if it's not appearing on the website i't's just because we haven't got around to listing it yet - and Ilford MGIV Portfolio and the postcards is a range we haven't listed yet - we will get in some on the next delivery from Ilford - if it's still not showing on the website when you want it please drop us an email.

Many thanks!

Matt

I'd been watching the website for the past few days as 120 HP5+ was out of stock, but it came back in yesterday and I ordered it online. Besides the immediate confirmation of order receipt, I had another email at 1633 to tell me the order had been dispatched and the doorbell rang at 0920 this morning to deliver the Hp5+, XP2 and D-76. If it was eBay I'd be giving Matt, his team and the Post Office a big AAA+++ rating, so I felt it was only fair to post here for information. Thanks Matt, I'll be ordering again!

There are many retailers who stock the usual Ilford/ Kodak best sellers, but Silverprint's success is due to their slower moving specialist products. The papers I buy with a layer of dust on the box! Are you planning to go in this direction?

Do you have plans to stock some of the hard to find European products? Foma 332 papers etc Rollei Superpan 200 120 film? These products are often cheap in mainland Europe, but postage charges to the UK prevent them from being bought. It would be nice to get the full range of European products from suppliers in the UK.

Good luck!

Would you consider listing the less common ADOX sheet film sizes? Quarter-plate for example. Maybe not feasible to hold stock, but if it was possible to make an order and have it delivered when your next shipment from the supplier came in that would be great.

I'm a low volume user and would have no problem waiting a few weeks for a box or two of film if it meant I didn't have to pay for shipping from overseas.

Hi Gary,

You make an excellent point - indeed there are a whole host of retailers stocking the more regular lines. Our policy is to develop a very wide range of everything analogue including the more unusual lines - we've started with ADOX, but I sincerely hope to move on to the likes of Foma, Slavich (who I have already been having discussions with) etc, and other more specialist lines including all the Kaiser darkroom stuff.

Of course it all takes time to build the range and I would ask everyone to keep an eye on the website as we are adding new lines all the time. Huge respect to Silverprint, and they, of course, have something like a 25 year head start on us! One of the key attractions of this business to me is the fact we are based in Birmingham and it's been amazing to see so many photographers turn up just from the locality. Despite being the second city, the place has been something of a desert for analogue for some time now (not forgetting Paterson manufacture all their range, including Benbo (but not the chemistry) in Tipton.)

All I can say is please always ask if you want something - this will help us to keep on top of where demand is.

Hi Ian - if it's made by Adox or Efke we can supply it - and in time we will list it on the website.

If it is not urgent then we can, of course, place it on back order and supply as soon as it arrives. We have a policy of not charging customers until your order is ready to dispatch.

(unless it was something really odd or expensive then we might ask for a deposit)

Something I should say is that, even when customers enter their details on the website and click to buy, your card is not charged at that time, although it is of course a completely secure checkout - it is done later when we have checked everything. This way customers are not arbitrarly charged for items we can't supply immediately - for example if a web order clashed with a walk in sale before a stock update on the website.

Thanks for that Peter - we aim to please.

We have to book the carrier by 2.00pm, so the heavier orders have to be in really before 1.45pm. However the smaller items (like your order) we send by Royal Mail - so if an order is in say, half an hour before we go to the post office then it should go out that day - this is unofficial though! I would say really get orders in always by 1.45 for dispatch that day, but you might be lucky later on.

Thanks Nicola. Please feel free to give us a call first as I would hate not to have what you are after.

Look for the All Electric Skoda garage and we are upstairs, accessed via a white door at the end of the building directly off the forecourt.
