Long time photographer, back to film days starting in 60's ( that makes me old) - shooting several vintage Nikon/Pentax 35mm, a Mamiya C220 and a Speed Graphic 4X5 in my past. Unfortunately ditched my darkroom equipment and enlarger in the midst of raising three kids and having an active career (Engineering). Took up digital in the early 'aughts and have been very active since. I do a lot of printing of my images with an Epson 3880. Mostly for my own enjoyment, however have sold a few in local galleries. Recently I have been intrigued with alt processes, doing some digital negative cyanotype and moving into Kallitype. Just built a UV exposure box and look forward to trying it out. I also have done a fair amount of sailing ( but recently sold my boat) and am an avid cyclist - bike touring all over the US and a few times in Europe.

Thanks to all on the various Alt photo forums, I have benefited greatly from your comments/experiences, as I dive into Alt Photo processes. Still trying to figure out how to make DM's work in this fourm.... but it must be tied to a post count or something.....

Let me be the first to welcome you to Photrio, David! I dabble mainly in Alt. processes... carbon transfer being at the top of my list, followed by Kallitype, Cyanotype, gum, sometimes tri-colour gum, and gum-overs...
DM's... As I'm new to the moderation team, I am not 100% certain if it is tied to post count... if you hold your curser over someone's user name (Andrew O'Neill for example) a window should open up. Bottom left corner it will say, start a conversation... Have you tried that?

Welcome to Photrio!

I believe you need 20 posts before you can start a Conversation - the name for DMs/PMs at Photrio.

The minimum post count for sending messages is to protect people trying to sell or buy things in the classified section, as it makes it a bit easier to identify people who are just trying to scam others. Scammers tend to post 20 nearly-nonsensical comments just to get their post-count up (as opposed to thousands of nonsensical comments just for the hell of it).
So, join in on some of the lively pointless arguments here and have a good time.

Welcome!
And logan2z has it right about the low post restrictions on starting Conversations. This was instigated as one of the anti-spamming tools that we have had to put in place.
However, if someone starts a Conversation with you, you can fully participate in that. So feel free to ask that in a post in a thread.

Thanks to all for the greeting - I will keep posting until I have the required posts to join a "conversation" - look forward to many good discussions
