I am new to Kallitype and will be attempting my first this month. I will be using Sandy King's published workflow and a NuArc plate burner as my light source. My question is - What should I try as my very first exposure times?
I plan on running a test exposure with various times. Were do I start and what should be be increments to get me into the park? I will be using COT 320 paper.

If you have a well exposed negative, with shadow density of about log 0.15-25, and developed to a density range of about 1.8 - 2.2, exposure times with the NuARc should be in the 250-500 unit range, where one unit equals one second once the light reaches full radiation.

In addition to the negative, the condition of your light is very important. Very old NuArc bulbs may put out only 20-50% of new bulbs. I have a friends whose exposure times with a NuArc 26-1ks are in the 30 minute plus range, for digital negatives. Mine are in the 1-3 minute range for the same kind of negative.
