Welcome and congrats, Jay. You'll find that the photographic skills that film forces you to hone will make you a better digital photographer, too. Soon you'll hopefully be developing your own film and it'll give you a sense of accomplishment nothing else can (besides darkroom printing!). Keep at it!

Welcome Jay,

If you think developing film is exciting, wait until you see your first wet print in the developingtray...

Good luck

Welcome to APUG.

As you wander around you may just stumble across a forum which is designed for just this sort of introduction: (there was a url link here which no longer exists) :D

You will, however, be forgiven for not finding that in the first place.

Enjoy yourself here.

Ooops. I did NOT see that forum. I'm still trying to find my way around  thanks for the heads up!

Jay- Welcome to APUG, and the wonders of film. Enjoy the journey. Be patient with yourself- you'll learn with every roll you process.
PS- I wish the first roll of film I developed had an image as good as yours did. Nice start...

Jay,
Welcome to APUG from sunny Florida, glad you found your way to analog photography.
There is not a better feeling than to analyze a scene, shoot develop and process your own work from start to finish
