Badger has the new stuff. 10 sheets 8x10 $35.95 That no 50 sheet box thing sucks!
http://www.badgergraphic.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=2511

That works out to about the same per sheet cost as with the 50 count box. It may be that Kodak's market analysis has shown the high price tag of the 50 sheet boxes to be an impediment to some photographers' buying it. If that is the case then I'm happy to buy it in 10 sheet boxes if it will help ensure that they keep making it!

Count your blessings, folks. They're still making this magnificent film. As long as they don't ruin the sheet film with anti-UV coating, I'll buy it in 1 sheet boxes, for cryin' out loud.

Actually it is about 26 USD more than it was for 50 sheets at B&H or Freestyle, which is pretty significantly increased. But perhaps they will sell it for a bit less than Badger. 10 sheet boxes is a lot more packaging to pay for as well. But as you say it is good to be able to get it.

Badger still lists the 50-sheet box of 8x10 ("old") TMY at $149.95 along with the new 10-sheet box at $35.95. So, using a single vendor's prices as the basis, we're looking at $3.60/sheet vs. $3.00/sheet. An exactly 20% increase.

B&H just got me good. I just got fifty rolls I ordered after it was stated in here that someone had recieved the new version. I called and the salesman said he had been told the new stuff was shipping out. So I ordered the 50 rolls and it just arrived.. the old stuff. Damn. I am ticked.

We have some 35mm 24exp rolls here at my local (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) photo store. I've shot 4 rolls so far. Nice stuff. If you'd like me to buy you a roll or two please PM and we'll arrange it.

Example shot attached.

Hi Wolfeye,

Good to see another eastern Iowan on here. I am down in Iowa City. Which photo store did you buy the New Tmax 400 at? Did they have it in 120 size?

Unless they've ruined it, I'll pay the difference gladly. The roll film I got was more than 20% better than the old.

I went out and shot some 4x5 TMY last weekend. One shot of old and one shot of new for each of 3 images. I'll develop them over this weekend and then print them. Then we'll see if the anti-UV backing is there or not.

I just got some fresh TMY sheets, all dated 12/2009. It doesn't say "new" on it so is this the old stuff ?

The new film has a red area on the label which says 'Sharpest Black and White 400' in four languages. My box is dated 05/2010. Emulsion 102 CAT 843 8202. Hope this helps.

Jamie

But only the 24 Exposure rolls. The 36 are still the old stuff. No idea about 120 as I shoot that only rarely.

Aye, nice to see another Luddite Iowan. Or is that just expected?

Freestyle now says online that TMY-135-24 and 135-36 are "Currently Out of Stock
Expected delivery date from vendor: Jan 23, 2008"

none of the other sizes say this. 50-sheet 4x5 says low stock.

Today 1/18/08 I just finally got a person to check on the 120 TMY-2 stock at B&H by going through customer service. As of now they have yet to receive it from Kodak and are still shipping the old TMY. The person I talked to said they had heard that Kodak was shipping out the new stuff but so far they had not laid their hands on any. The good news is they are giving me a refund on the fifty rolls I orderd.

Any question about my obsessive compulsive nature is answered. Yes I am obsessive and once I get on something I can't let it go. However the joke is on me. On a hunch I went to the small local supply store and what do you know. 20 pro packs of 120 tmy-2 on the shelf. Never under estimate the little guy.

I also received new TMY-2 from B&H in 120 size yesterday.

I suppose that it is possible that the salesman was so annoyed at me for trying to establish whether or not I would get the new stuff he decided to send me the old stuff. Thankfully they have a return policy and now the 50 rolls old tmy I got yesterday is on it's way back ...and someone else will get it. As to why customer service told me they hadn't received any yet? Who knows.

I called Freestyle today to check on the new stuff in 120, and they said that they don't have any.

Well, I said I'd report back if I got hosed and so here I am to report that I got hosed.

Earlier this week I inquired of the online "chat" help at B&H regarding the new T-Max 400 in 35mm and was told promptly and emphatically that they do have it and that they are shipping it.

Naturally, today I received my 6 rolls of the old version.

Thanks, B&H, but if I wanted the old version I could have picked it up at my local Ritz Camera.

I have not seen any new T-Max 400 in Southern Ontario yet. Then again I am in no rush as I am shooting with Tri-x and enjoying the experience.

I just walked in at 2:30 pm and bought a brick of the new TMAX-400 120 TMY rollfilm at the LA Freestyle store. It was the only size of the new TMAX they had in stock. They said that they are expecting a new shipment from Kodak in February.

They had plenty of Ilford FP4+ and HP5 in stock (roll film and sheet film). Same for Efke 25, 50 and 100. I bought some boxes of 5x7 (Efke and Ilford).

Unfortunately Kodak elected to retain the same product codes and package bar codes so to our computers the new and old look identical. We know they are not and are understand the inconvenience this represents to our customers. We are working to repair this and appreciate your patience.

Thank you very much Henry for the concern and communication.
