I was asked ITAH? at Craters of the Moon National Part four days. The asker is a retired wedding photographer who used Bronicas since he could not afford a Hasselblad.

... Craters of the Moon ...
(National Park)

Very interesting geological formations there; I went through that region on my way to Rexburg to watch the 2017 eclipse.

Yeah, so after 25+ years still no ITAH question even when I'm using a Hasselblad.

I think no one here has the slightest idea what a Hasselblad is. Samsung or Starbucks yes, Hasselblad no.

Just got asked at out company 4th of July party if my Mamiya M645 1000s was a Hasselblad.

Close, but no dice...

Recently I was followed by police car through a pedestrian zone whilst wearing one of my weird Super 8 cameras by a shoulder strap.

Maybe it resembles an HK MP5. Happens to me all the time.

I have a Bolex 160 Macrozoom Super-8 (I need to send it to Bolex for repair). What I want is a Bolex H16 Rex. These would never be mistaken for a Hasselblad, though.

Yeah, the Russian Photosniper market has gone to hell for obvious reasons...

If shooting the sheriff do not forget the deputy ! bandit:

It's been forever since I heard that song. Just looked it up: 1974, Eric Clapton. Not that long ago, right? Right?

I sported a Bolex 160 Macrozoom indeed. And it got a grip very pistol-grip alike.

Awesome that you have that fine Bolex. I like the top-mounted magazine compartment - it looks the way a ciné camera should look.

Well...
Clapton's version is a good cover version....

From now on, if I see someone with a Hasselblad, I'm going to ask them if it's a Kodak Brownie.

I have never been asked "Is that a Hasslblad?" however, many people have commented "Wow, a Hasselblad" or "I used to shoot Hasselblad"

In any case, Craters of the Moon is the perfect place to shoot with a Hasselblad. Just don't leave it there like others did...

:D

What a coincidence, my buddy and I watched the eclipse near Ashton, about 10 miles from Rexburg. And we visited Craters of the Moon National Park on our way there too, then spent a few days in Yellowstone.
This trip has a special place in my memory, as I watched the eclipse with a dear friend from my university days with whom I already watched the 1999 eclipse in Europe. As she relocated to USA over 20 years ago we don't meet that often. Needless to say, we already have a "save the date" in our calendars on April 8, 2024 :D

Not particularly good pics, but the National Park is indeed "out of this world" :

This is the crater I'm interested in:

What is the story on this crater? Is it volcanic or an impact crater?? I just spent an hour on the innerwebs researching this location . . . nothing, nada, zilch.

It's an interesting one, isn't it? I have no idea about it's origin. From photos you can tell that people with off-road vehicles have visited it - it's less than 10 miles from a highway.

Is there a geologist in the house?

There are also these two large craters 15 miles from Rexburg, which I believe are volcanic. They're called the north and south buttes. I saw these get dark by the moon's shadow seconds before my spot on a hill in Rexburg became dark.

Looks like a cinder cone, got about 600 of them in northern AZ, in fact my house is one one. Great memories of visiting Crater Of The Moon when I was a kid. Probably why I have a house on a cinder cone and a lava flow going through the property.

Hmm, if I had known about it I would have driven there. I had the right vehicle for it there.

Rexburg buttes. Popular with hikers. Watch for rattlesnakes.

When I go back, I will take a Hasselblad (along with the SWC, too).

Ouch. Well, that's it, then. You'll just have to get a Rolleiflex.
