"Is that a Hasselblad?" I was asked today at the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Athens.

I was using the 503 CX and carrying the 903 SWC in a pack. They wanted to look at the CX.

Ricohflex VII was taking photos of a bridge in Buffalo NY a few years back.

Is that a Hasselblad?

I was polite and said sorry no, do you anyone who has one? I'll take it off their hands. And that's how I ended up with a pristine K1000, 2 lenses, a bag, strap, 6 rolls of film, set of filters and a cleaning kit. Moral of the story? Always be polite and be nice to the Border Patrol agent near the bridge. He'll tell the Railroad guy that you're not a terrorist trying to blow up a bridge to Canada with a TLR.

i have never been asked that, even when i had one.

most times when im shooting my RB, i see people ducking as if i had a ray gun. ive been asked what movie i was shooting. ive been told to leave certain places because filming required a permit, but never asked if it was a hussie.

No. Here in dk people know the real quality stuff like mamiya, pentax and bronica and they don't bother with such useless stuff like hassies and rolleis  :D

We drove from Athens to Delphi and unloaded the luggage at the hotel. We then drove to the Delphi Museum and Archeological Site. After I hiked with the Hasselblad 503 CX with the CF 50mm lens to the top of the site, the stadium, I started down. Just above the amphitheater there was a man with a Leica M9 [ugh digital], and when I stopped to take a photograph of the amphitheater and the Temple of Apollo he asked, "Is that a Hasselblad?" :D

Today in the Ancient Olympia Museum I was approached by a Honduran man who asked questions about the Hasselblad and took a photograph of it.

For reasons I cannot understand, 90% of comments when I am carrying a Rolleiflex TLR start with, 'Is that a Hasselblad?"

Most of the other comments ask if it is a movie film camera.

I'm going to start saying yes to either question. Why limit disinformation to the internet, eh? I'll let the Hasselblad and Bolex owners out there deal with it.

OR you can up grade from TLR to SLR and become a Hasselblad fanboy. :D

Absolute ROFL today. I have just finished cleaning up a Mamiya Six IV, circa 1947, and took it down to Sydney Harbour for it's first shoot in maybe 40 years plus. The first person to see it commented that it looked quite old and asked the question - ITAH. Took a bit to convince him that Hasselblad didn't make folders and that, if anything, this camera resembled folders from Agfa, Zeiss Ikon, Voigtlander et al.

I tend to get "hey I have one of those..." when out with my Minolta Autocord, which is followed shortly thereafter by them saying "... Kodak Brownies!" No. No...

I bought a brand new Tachihara 4x5. It was so pretty. Made from 200 year old cherry wood with bright brass looking fittings. People would ask me if I restored the antique camera myself. :D

I now own a Wehman 8x10. People just think it's big!

If you enjoy compensating for parallax and not being able to line up polarizer filters with a TLR, that just leaves more equipment for me to buy.
