Excellant work! I worked with a woman who went to China and she came back with some very good images.

With 3 trips under my belt so far, and another one skedded for this summer...these were a real pleasure to see. I can only imagine how rich and gorgeous they'd be in person.

Not sure when/if you'd go back, but I think you would be amazed by Hong village in Anhui province. The movie "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" was filmed there, and it's a rare thing indeed to see such old, traditional Chinese architecture unscathed. Again, I can only imagine what some finely-crafted Plat/Pall. prints from there would look like.

I have been there 3 times myself

- during the past year.

Invited back again in October - hoping to be able to do more photography then as well...

It is an amazing place. Very friendly people.

"You want to photograph? No problem. Come right in! Please bring that tripod too! No charge! No fee! No permit!"

Nice photographs Per, I hope I can gain some insight on photography from you at the Tonopah class this November.

Hahaha...fantastic quotes, Per!

Obviously, you are charming these people. Even your tripod is invited in?!! You're doing something right!

Upon buying and checking the latest Lonely Planet guide, the name of the village in Anhui province I was amazed by a few years back is Hongcun. Many gorgeous bamboo forests swaying upon a mountainside nearby, too. And despite so many art students wandering around, it's not hard to find an out-of-the way corner or two.

Colin,

When you have grey - or white hair in China all doors open. Even security guards bring you a chair while you are waiting for a cab outside "his" building, lol...
Honest truth - it happened to me!

Very nice work Per, hope to see them in Tonopah later this year. Are you thinking about a workshop in China? I am in.

I'd be interested in a China workshop, FWIW. And I can easily believe your story about grey/white hair - that's an attitude that is very, very deeply ingrained in their society.

I've heard that western/white babies and toddlers are practically little celebrities there, also (for those at the other end of the age spectrum).

The key to using a tripod...

- bring a baby too. Then you can get any heavy duty tripod in anywhere!
