There is no option to disable it.If you have zero intention of using this option and would like to disable it, or change the location of the button it can be done in your preferences here (under Social Share Options): Dead Link Removed
There is no option to disable it.
I thus chose the "sidebar" option as I hide the sidebar anyway. Saved the setting, logged out and in.
But the bar is still at the top.
Sorry, wrong setting in my admin. The option to disable is now there. There is no option to disable it.

In user prefs you can set it to be at the bottom of the page, or remove it if you like.It certainly is prominent!
And why wouldn't you want to promote Photrio?

Just an observation. It's not ruining my life. One thing is that (for me) it loads before the other content, so it calls attention to itself that way.In user prefs you can set it to be at the bottom of the page, or remove it if you like.
I am promoting Apug since 2007.
But so far I can count the times at my hand that I linked to a certain thread. And for such cut&paste of the page or even post URL is completely sufficient for me. Neither am I on Twitter, Facebook etc.
Also I still write letters by hand.
So why have a bar in sight I do not use?? And as Sean explicetely offered the setting to disable that bar...
Strange, what OS and browser do you use? The page loads all at once for me on several systems.Just an observation. It's not ruining my life. One thing is that (for me) it loads before the other content, so it calls attention to itself that way.
I think it should be prominent -- at least insofar as you don't have to go looking for it (as you would if it were under the Thread Tools menu). If the idea is to advertise Photrio via social media outlets, then it makes sense that it's a one click function at the top of the page. My thing is I don't think the banner spanning the entire page is a good use of space. At that rate, you could just have direct links to the 15 or so different social media websites -- or maybe just the top 5 and a More... option.Sean:
For those of us who would prefer to not have the "Share this Page" link so prominent, can a link to that functionality be added to the "Thread Tools" drop down menu?
How about a button that just says "Share" that when clicked turns into a pull-down list of different sites (including an "Other" to allow anything not listed)? Perhaps check-boxes in the list for multiple sharing.I think it should be prominent -- at least insofar as you don't have to go looking for it (as you would if it were under the Thread Tools menu). Just some thoughts...
That's the way I've always done it. I can even figure out how to click the "link" button in the reply box of any social media forum to make fancy links if I want - but I'm an IT professional, so I have many of these esoteric skills that the general population apparently lacks, lol.Aside of that new button you may,
-) copy&paste the URL of the thread from its first page
-) click at a the post-number of a certain post of interest and then copy&paste the upper URL given at that new window, which will lead the addressee to that very post, but still embeded within the very page of that thread
