Hello! Long time lurker, short time poster here 🤓

I've been on here since it was APUG, but had never been active. I've been lurking again for a couple of years now, and I'm feeling the drive to get active in photography again - so here I am. This does seem like a big, active community to be part of, I hope I'm right!

My dad was a photographer his whole life, both as a historian and curator and as an artist (painting, drawing, and photography were his things). That got me into the darkroom at about age 8, and it went from there. "My" first camera was a Minolta Autocord, given to me on permanent loan from dad. The first one I bought was a Pentax MX, and yes I still have both. I added a little more over the years, plus dad's gear - 35mm, MF, LF, darkroom stuff... I dabbled in Nikon for a few years at the end of my film phase, but eventually sold that stuff off and stuck with Pentax.

I've been purely digital for at least 10-12 years (since about the time I shot my last roll of Kodachrome, may it rest in peace) but want to get back into a hybrid mode now, as I start to find a little more free time. Shoot on film, scan to process and print digitally, that's my plan. There's a Fuji GW670iii that Dad only shot 46 rolls on, sitting downstairs waiting to be tested - it's calling me!

Just my 2 cents here....I did that for years and years. Thought I would need a real darkroom for wet printing. Turned out that a bedroom or kitchen were very viable. Making wet prints for me is relaxing, and I'm not a great darkroom printer by any means. But I just make sure to have a good negative and the thing almost prints itself.

Scanning and inkjet printing drove me crazy (crazier), what w/ ink clogs, printer issues and staring at monitors until my eyeballs almost fell out. Turned out the wet printing was much easier. Who knew?

Welcome! Hybrid for me is using roll film (and 4x5, sometimes), and then making digitised negatives for Alt. processes. But... I prefer all analogue at the end of the day...especially for my ULF negatives! 😄
