I'd say 90% of the time when I pick up something from ebay, it needs repair before it is usable. I recently picked up a Jobotronic 2000 to try instead of my analite 300/timer combo. After getting a calibration setting for Ilford MGRC, I find it works reasonably well. I can make a few measurements and get good enough print on the first try. Using it to measure the contrast range of a negative to determine a contrast filter has also been working well. As far as the meter/timer, it did not "need" any repair, but I opened it up anyway and found some electrolytic and tantalum caps that I replaced, just cause. Pretty pleased with this thing.
Attached is a scan of a print I did just being guided by the Jobo. I measured the contrast range, came up with using a #4 contrast filter ( was probably on the edge of a #5, a #4.5 might have been a better choice. ), measured the exposure, and printed. I think it's not bad for not much thought.
