Greetings, Apuggers:

My name is Bob Weber. I'm stricly amateur, but I've had a basement darkroom for almost two decades and have probably shot enough film to spool from here to Calgary (300 km one way) and back. Love doing it; always have, since high school.

Am currently a wire service staff reporter, specializing in the Arctic and the environment. But this has little do with my photo work, which mostly revolves about the people and places around me. Faves? Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Atget (the trees and parks), Harry Callahan. I don't think I'll ever make a dime from shooting pictures, but it gives me a whole new way to understand and describe the world. And after spending all day staring a computer screen, I love making something with my hands that might even be a bit expressive of how I felt about what was in front of the viewfinder. I admit, I've been a lurker here for some time, so I already know I'll enjoy the experience. I hope to participate in the conversation when I have something to add. Regards,

Bob

welcome aboard - from the GTA

I'm here in the western end of 'the big smoke' as some would call Toronto. I'm in the same situation as you - for me shooting some almost 20 years since high school, although there have been a few years that I was not exposing too much.

I am confronting the records storage issue though. All my photo gear once sat in the darkroom; now the reference books have moved out to make room for about 18" of shelf space worth of negatives and contact sheets filed in 3 ring binders.

Happy shooting, and now that winter approaches, happy printing.
