Hello,

I am new to this forum but hope someone can assist. I have read numerous posts on Mamiya problems but this is my one.

I recently purchased a mint condition Mamiya 6 and obtained a manual from the net. I ran a test roll of film no problems. The second roll loaded and shutter not fire. All parameters noted in the manual which prevent the shutter from working were
checked and OK. The red LED illuminates as soon as the shutter button is touched and stays on. This situation occurs with no film (door open) as well. I changed batteries to fresh ones.

Film advance levers works fine, lens comes on and off no problem...

I am stuck....

Any help most appreciated

Thanks
Peter

I would send it to Mamiya in Munich and have them check it out. They were most helpful when my 150mm did not line up with infinity.

Perhaps there's a communications problem between the body and lens, perhaps as the result of an almost invisible film of dirt on the contacts. First trying removing the lens and then putting it back on - the wiping action of doing this may be enough. If that doesn't work, take off the lens and very gently wipe the electrical contacts on both lens and body with a cotton cloth or a soft pencil eraser to remove any dirt or oxide that might be on the contacts.

I had a similar problem once with my Mamiya 7 and a gentle cleaning was all it took.

There are interlocks that sometimes get stuck. I was the OP in the post years ago (see link below). I never did get around to having it fixed as the original body is fine. I don't know what goes wrong but it might be fixable. I'm not declaring that it's the same with your camera, but it might be.

Thank you all for your response and comments.

I am happy to say that the camera now works!

I am currently in Wellington (New Zealand) on vacation and as a last attempt I took the camera to a local pro camera store (Wellington Photographic Supplies) who were very helpful. We cranked through a test film with the film door open and low and behold the shutter then fired. I guess something had got its self out of sync with the internal electronics, anyway a complete mystery. It will take some time to build confidence in the camera but at least I can use it.

Thanks again for your comments.

Has the camera continued to work?

I have the exact same problem. I ran through one roll without issue, but after loading the second, I can't get the shutter to fire.

Can you provide any more details about how you got yours running again?
