I just got an email from a guy at Maco informing me that they are preparing batches of the new IR film and they are looking for photographers interested in doing some testing. The film would be available in a package of 30 rolls of 135-36 and there were different costs for this package depending where in the world you are located. Any takers?

Here's the entire email (with prices):

MACO has produced a new infrared film.
At the moment MACO is cutting and packing the first 5.000 pcs. of the 35mm film.
As a trial converting without perfect stickers and so on.

Mid of March MACO will be ready to sell the first samples to photographers.

A wider pan-film, like HIE and IR 820c. But with 400 ISO and 820 nanometers. (!).

If you -or/and friends from you- like to test this new kind of film, please contact us before Eastern.
We are offering a trial test set of 30 films 135-36. Price 165 US-Dollars (instead of 270 US-Dollar)

Seems very interesting. I don't use much 35mm film, but would be willing to load up a few cameras for a test

Can we get some kind of co-op going? I can't afford that many but I would be willing to buy a part of an order

I'd be willing to try some, too, but sure as heck can't afford to buy 30 of them. Maybe we can buy by region? Any others in the bay area that want in?

allan (always looking to do some IR) chen

what an offer

5.5o a roll delivered in the USA. 400 asa. How could I possibly say yes?

But I am happy to learn about it.

i'm in if we're getting a pool together.

maybe 4 rolls or so?

Mike

I am interested in doing this (I probably can't get through 30 rolls though either). I will send a reply to the email stating interest and see what kind of a reply I get. If anything, I certainly can split up 30 rolls.

I'm in for 5 rolls. If you are able to order the rolls then I can paypal you or send the dough via snail

I can´t afford 30 rolls either, and I guess that being so far away from the most of the members cuts me out of the pool. The shiping costs would be huge...

Anyone in the UK interested in a co-op?

I'm not in the UK, but at least I'm on the right side of the pond

I would be interested Mike  Perhaps split the film/costs in half or even in thirds if there is someone else as well?

~Kathy~

I would, but my only 35mm camera is an EOS with IR frame counter  (though I am looking for an Olympus Trip SP / RD or Canonet QL17...).

At USD 5.50/ EUR 4.23 - that's about half the price of Kodak HIE.

Cheers, Bob.

Even less than that. 7dayshop are usually the cheapest and they have got HIE at GBP 6.99 (plus P&P) and EUR 4.23 according to xe.com is only GBP 2.92. So, less than 3 quid sounds good to me

I would be interested in 4 or 5 rolls. What numbers would other UK people want? Also, I suspect it wouldn't cost too much to send a jiffy bag over to Norway for Ole.

Well is would be even better if we each only needed to take 5 ...I mean we might hate the stuff!

Depends on numbers interested I guess.

If someone gets this working you can count on me for 5 or 6 rolls.
Just tell me where to send the money and if you want check or money order.

I've emailed Maco to confirm the price and delivery etc. Will let you know when they reply.

At the moment for the UK/Europe we've got:

me: 5
kathy: ?
jon: 10
ole: ?

Anyone else?

Cheers

Mike

I'll take what's left - anything from 5 to 10. Then I'll have to get a IR filter for the Bessa L - or see if I can find a 30.5mm slipon one for the Welti. On the other hand, I DO have one that fits the lenses for my Bronica - and a 35W back for it too. Now there's a thought :D

Good to see it seems to be coming together. I will go for 5 if possible? Many thanks

~Kathy~

Excellent. So it's;

me: 5
Kathy: 5
Ole: 10
Jon: 10

I'll put the order in when I hear back from Maco, and let you know when it arrives. These things often take longer than they say, so it may be towards the end of March before delivery!

Cheers

Mike
