At the request of several members of this year’s Lith printing workshops at the Formulary in Montana we are planning a new type of workshop for 2008 – an ‘alumni’ group, for people who have been on a full 5 day workshop before and don’t need to start from scratch again but, being gluttons for punishment, would like a course with a different emphasis to take their new skills on to another level.

We have enough 2007 returnees already to make one alumni week viable and there will also be a second week, in order to spread travel expense costs.

This second week could be another alumni ‘follow on’ group from this or previous years’ workshoppers, or a ‘start to finish’ group suitable for all, including beginners, where we look at the basics, controls, different materials, 2-bath lith, bleach and redevelopment lith and toning lith.

I know that there are APUG members who have been on a lith course with me before and there may be others who would like to learn lith printing from scratch, so this is an advance notice to alert you, and for me to assess demand so that we can notify the Formulary. Our groups are always given the run of the whole place there and we can spread ourselves over their three large processing rooms.

This should take place in October 2008. Expressions of interest are welcome.

Dates finalised. Programme extended!

For your information and following on from the above, the details of these 2008 Lith Printing workshops have now been finalised.
I have been quite surprised and delighted by the demand from this year’s workshop groups for the ‘alumni follow-up workshops’ and it looks likely that we already have enough interest expressed to fill two weeks with this new format, but we can still accept a few more.

As a result, the Formulary have now asked for a 3rd week to accommodate anyone who has not been on one of these before. This will cover lith printing right from the beginning, so no previous experience of lith is required. It progress the students from basics to more advanced lith printing, including 2-bath lith processes, bleach and lith redevelopment (‘2nd pass’ lith) and toning. These are great fun and success is of course guaranteed ;-)

This means that Lith printing at The Formulary will now run through most of October, from the 5th to the 24th as follows:
Week 1: Oct 5th – 10th. Lith printing from scratch
Week 2: October 12th to 17th. Lith printing; Alumni group 1
Week 3: Oct 19th to 24th. Lith Printing; Alumni group 2

Full details are not yet posted but will soon be found at http://www.photoformulary.com/ , so keep a watch and maybe sign up to the blog and newsletter there for further details to be sent to you in due course.

It will be great to see some of you there.
