Folks,

Here's the final word:

HAS Imaging in Dayton Ohio has 99 rolls of 9-1/2" x 250 foot rolls of 3.9 mil 2412 Pan X. Some may be spoken for, but Ed is willing to sell some. The price is $600 per roll, and according to him, there will be no more made. You can buy a single roll. The film was purchased from Kodak a year ago and has been frozen since. He did not have an expiration date handy.

5-1/2" film can be had in the thinner base (Kodak pan X 3412), but there's a 10 roll minimum, and the rolls are 500 foot rolls at $835.43 each.

The phone number is 937 222-3856

The new/remaining film is only available through them unless someone else has some old stock.

Cheers,

Steve

600$ is somewhat below what Kodak asked for it last year.

Did anyone ever order any? If so, did they have it cut down?

I have the 5". So far I don't cut it down, I use it in 5x7 and 5x8 holders.

Actually, I'd be interested in the 9.5"; anybody care to go halfsies on one?

All you 7x17 shooters, bear in mind that 9.5-7=2.5"=6.35mm, which is pretty close to the width of 120 roll film, so....

It's been many moons now, but I remember this gentleman that said he'd send me some aerial film as a gesture for sending him roll of photo paper. I wonder what happened to him. He must have moved away, because I never heard from him again. :D

I'll take a 5" roll, Steve. Actually, I already have a 1000 ft roll

I dunno about the wisdom of using the 9.5" roll cut to sheets. It's thin stuff, it may buckle on you. I get good results with the 5" cut to 5x7", but it already has a tendency to buckle. Optimally, it wants to be shot with a vacuum back (my K20 camera has one).

Do they still have EIR?

I still have 1 (35mm) roll of EIR left.. and one HIE, safely stored

Oh yes, I think this gentleman is still digging out from asbestos-removal renovations to his darkroom that left everything in one big heap, but I will pass a reminder on to him and let's see what happens

I thought someone on the forum might have known him. But, there's no need to make contact. Now I'm pursuing large format underwater pinhole photography using X-ray film exclusively . . . at night, in the dark. :surprised:
