Relaunching would be Kodak Gold 200 in 120 I guess. I am curious what the new product will be.

I’m not holding my breath because so far the revived film has been nothing of utility to me... but Gold200 in 120 would be swell.

Reading the actual comment, he is not really announcing anything. They are looking to a couple of things that may or may not materialize into new products. I also attend to the conference and it is how I understood the comment.

The headline is sensationalized. It should read, “Possible reintroduced and new Kodak film sometime in the future.”

Still, I'd welcome if 'cosumer' colour films came back in 120 format. After all my Rolleicord is the cheaper consumer model.

Myself I'd be more interested in the 120 version of Fuji X-tra 400. For printing RA4 it would be nice to have a flexible film with higher contrast than Portra or Pro400H available.

Kodachrome III in E-6.

APUG will kvetch and whine about it and the public will love it and gush over it. It will be one of those 'Stop having fun guys! This isn't even real!' while people who could care less are out shooting and enjoying life.

Fair enough. But if 7Eleven wants to launch their version of an Alexa speaker (whatever it is correctly called) they will pay someone do develop it and pay a manufacturer to make it. Still, it is 7Eleven who wanted it and for that reason it will happen.

EK probably has the capability to create a somewhat new emulsion or to modify and old one. If Alaris say they want want a punchy consumer emulsion delivered in 120 format and are willing to pay EK for the implementation and the manufacture then Alaris will launch *their* product, which they have commissioned. Not as beautiful as the old Kodak, but that is how it works today.

I'm told that they were the predominant impetus for Eastman Kodak bringing back Ektachrome. It probably wouldn't have happened if Eastman Kodak didn't also see a market for Super 8. Many of the factors that went into the re-design necessary related to the current, much different environment for storage, shipping and delivery of product. The input on those issues definitely came from Kodak Alaris.
Even back in the day, the marketing department of Kodak tended to be where the energy for new product development came from.
Kodak Alaris still has a worldwide presence. Eastman Kodak is mostly in the USA.

One previously available film may be brought back into production

Perhaps Plus-X? I'd bet that would sell well...

Even if it is only a "maybe, possibly, sometime in the future," I love news like this. They would not even be looking at it if film demand was on a decline.

I agree.
From what I know about how difficult it was to bring back Ektachrome in 35mm, and then modify that to work with 120, plans to bring back or introduce more films indicate a real commitment and energy.

They also said somewhere that part of the reason for their recent price increases was to upgrade/update their equipment. They plan to keep going...

I think if ALRIS orders enough of any emulsion, or pays Kodak to develop a new emulsion and if Kodak can obtain the needed materials it will happen. Kodachrome in E 6 would not be Kodachrome, it would a sort of like Kodachrome but not Kodachrome, a return of Plus X, I would buy. Kodacolor Gold in 120, maybe.

I think it is more that Kodak Alaris is the marketer and Eastman Kodak is the manufacturer, and that with any introduction of new product, re-introduction of old product, or change to a product, they work collaboratively.
Somewhat like Apple and Foxconn.
