Yeah... I've got a sort of "sinking" feeling about fp-100c. I usually wait until the price is near $8 at B&H or Adorama, then buy 10 or 15 boxes. Every time I wonder if it will be the last batch. It usually lasts around a year. It's fun and I enjoy my "pinholaroid" a lot. ( OK, that camera could definitely be called a "toy"... I pretty much just play with it )

Well, by that definition my Toyo G 4x5 and Cambo SCX 8x10 are also 'toys', all I do is play with them. Come to think of it, all my MF and 35mm gear are also toys that I play with, so's the enlarger and scanner and all that. Probably the only piece of equipment I take seriously is the Jobo when doing E6...

I hate to say it but I think you're right, lack of an FP100 camera does sort of point to a lack of future FP100. They've killed the 4x5 versions, not sure if FP3000 is dead or just tripled in price. Damn Fuji. If their products weren't so good it'd be easier to let them kill what they wanted and not get upset...

Oh, FP-3000b is dead all right. Fuji announced its discontinuation about a year ago. What's in the stores now is from the final production run.

FP-100c's days are numbered for sure. Chris Bonanos, author of a book on Polaroid, feels that it is still in production because it is still used for passport and visa photos in some developing countries. When that market dries up, so will FP-100c. There is not enough amateur or creative use to sustain production.

I am so old that I clearly remember when Leicas (35mm) and Rolleis (120 film size) were known as "miniature cameras." It was sort of a put down. "Real" photographers carried bulky Speed Graphics then, I guess.

Yeah, I was setting up my tripod one day and this guy started talking to me, said he shoots "full frame digital" to sound impressive. I said something along the lines of 'I don't shoot my miniature cameras much anymore', pulled out my 4x5", and said "oops, I left the big one at home".
(I know what I did might sound mean to some, but sometimes the only way to get past a cocky wanker is to out-cock them).

Your camera is defective. INSTAX film is very sharp with good color. I have two INSTAX cameras, once for each kid and they have to sometimes fight to get their camera away from me. A LOT of fun to shoot. Very sharp photos.

Fuji did make a camera for FP100C, it was called the FP-1 I believe. Rather rare and pricey these days. It will be a sad day if Fp100C ever disappears. It's such a great film, far better than any color polaroid film ever produced, I think. I still have a hoard of FP100C45, wish that was still made... and Fp100B, and FP3000B... :-/ Ironic that fuji is considering discontinuing that, while simultaneously IP and New55 are trying to start up the same sorts of products.

Ever tried shooting the Instax film in a 4x5 holder? The film itself is not the problem WRT apparent sharpness, I can assure you!

was wondering if I want to venture into Fujit Intax 210 model. Am sure some of the members out here are using the camera. What's your feedback on it?

I got the 100 and 200 models and have a hard time using them. One major disadvantage is the autoexposure algorithm:
Instead of switching to longer exposure times (added by a warning indicator) at low ambient lighting, it just switches on the flashlight.
At far away objects this won't work. Exposure correction does not work either as the camera already is at the limits of the internal time/aperture setting.

I also miss a better scale focusing and a tripod thread. Best would be two threads.

there was an instax 500af which is ways better than the 100/200 series. I own them all, so I know what I'm talking about. the 500af has a tripod mount. it's sometimes expensive, but if you're patient you can find one for less than 200$. it's worth that.

I have the 210, and like it! At that price, you can't go wrong! Sure, you have to know it's limitations. Like AgX said, good light only, or close enough for flash to work. Also the handling isn't great, with controls awkwardly placed on the side of the camera... But when you get used to it's quirks it's great fun and capable of some really nice results!

The new 300 will be basically the same camera, but with what looks like a much better control layout (and better looks!) But also more expensive...

the 300 will have a tripod mount. as you say, the rest is basically the same as the 210 camera with better looks.

Yes, but not quite sure what's the use of the tripod mount?! As far as I can tell there's no bulb mode, no selftimer, and the slowest shutter speed is 1/64 second which is handholdable anyway???

Quite right. But IF that camera had gotten a better exposure algorithm (as many other consumer cameras) then a pocket tripod would be best useful.

The Wide is a camera with a limited use in mind of their designers. Contrary to many designs of their Polaroid and especially Kodak forerunners.

I'm surprised they didn't include a timer function on this newer model. There have been so many times where I wish this function would have been available for group photos etc
