Hi Nige,

Vandam Sydney tell me there has been a change in the distribution for Ilford in Australia. I believe there is a container just in and it is being unloaded by the 'new' agent!

They have promised to chase it up and let me know when more detail is available.

Will post as soon as I hear.

Regards

Brendan

I heard that too... probably won't be any of the new products until the next shipment I guess.

They are quoting 14 weeks for an order of 5x7  so it will probably be the same for this - always assuming the local dealers have put an order in!

Dear Keith,

Many thanks for supplying the link, its not that I forgot, its that I just do not know how to do it, I am to computers what mustard is to custard...

Simon.

Dear APUG customers,

It has shipped ex Mobberley UK , as you antipodeans know, you live a long way away, its six weeks on the water I am afraid.

Kind Regards

Simon.

Don't forget to tell 'JESSOPS' that there is such a thing as film developer! ( let alone a new one )

Don't confuse them - they think a film developer is a minilab...

Thanks Simon,

Plus another 4 weeks to clear our customs, a week to unpack the container etc etc, Oh well they told me LF would slow me down!

Freestyle has already run out of the Warmtone developer (on backorder). Still have couple of bottles of Neutol WA to keep me going. Looking forward to trying the Cooltone on Kentmere Bromide.

I tried to order some and some Bromophen from The Camera Store in Calgary. They said they couldn't ship it To Nova Scotia because it was hazardous material.
I doubt I can convince a camera store in Nova Scotia to order any unless I buy a case.

This is great news, Simon.

By the way, looking at the data sheet, shouldn't the developing time for RC paper be 120 seconds, not 120 minutes?

Cheers,

Seán.

Unless you want really really rich blacks.

After some trials with the cooltone developer I feel that it is a good product.
It does seem to increase contrast (and reduce some fog on older papers) which suggests a fair dose of perhaps benzotriazole. One interesting observation is that it will not develop Dupont Varilour past a ghost image.

Interesting to note that someone brought up the subject of the paper surface finishes. MGWT has a gorgeous gloss, I only wish MG1V had the same finish

Further clarification:

The new warmtone formula appears to give a more yellowish tone, which is certainly warm compared to blue-black and neutral - but I would like to see something with chocolate-colored values that merge into black.

It is easy enough to do in Photoshop, but I'd like it in beautiful analog Silver prints.
