As they had to stop, they were no competition for Kodak before. The same with Agfa.

The topic cine films to me seems much overrated.

Each of those companies had a market share - that made them competitors. Significant/insignificant market share - that doesn't matter. Those companies had enough of a share to produce, then they didn't - but not because Kodak was the Champion or anything. The majority of the market vanished.

I mentioned motion picture films because, at 1 minute per 100 feet of 35mm film, a single movie uses a massive amount of film - more than most still photographers will shoot in a lifetime.

Well... if true, this is sad news. It means discontinuation of yet another film from Fuji. Only Superia is left.

Not necessarily. It could simply mean that Fuji are temporarily unable to make C200 (plague, supply issues) and wish to continue their presence in the market....and the only other factory on the planet making a 200ISO C41 film happens to be in Rochester, NY.

It may seem overrated, but frankly, the fortunes of Kodak were definitely made by cine film. When release printing ended, thus ended the solid financial footing of Kodak...

Given that the Advanced Materials and Chemicals division of E.Kodak made a loss for Q1-Q3 this year, and for the same period last year (per their latest 10-Q), I'm sure they would be quite happy to supply film to Fuji if they are able to.

@Jonno85uk why are you posting this? He just regurgitating what's already here.
@Old Gregg why not? He picked up on the silver caps which I hadn't seen others mention. the gif made things a lot simpler to see the comparison. the discord channel I did not not about until this video.
If you think it's inane, do what I do with inane posts, ignore it.

No worries, Old Gregg wants and need to have the last word even more than my ex. If you can believe it. I wonder if a newer version of Gregg would be better? Would that be Gregg.02?

Jonno85uk you made excellent points about the content on the video about the caps and gif so thanks for this and the video . Both of these being points that so far have not been mentioned here. The presenter was also honest enough to say that little if anything he can think of about this whole affair makes sense which is refreshingly honest for YouTube videos where the aim often seems to be conveying the impression of the "all seeing" oracle

Just a pity that "liverishness" seems to be creeping back into threads

Don't worry, Matt will close the thread soon enough.
He's a little slow on the draw today. I see a few threads that I'm surprised he hasn't hammered shut yet.
As far as I can recall, I've closed two threads so far this week.
Are you looking for more closures? I can look for some, but nothing comes immediately to mind :D
I like to let the "rampant speculation" threads exhaust themselves whenever possible.

so has anyone seen a package of the New Fuj?
where is the expiry date printed on the box. Kodak and Fuji have totally different formats for that.
Open the box, is it in a can with a Grey cap that is larger, or a translucent cap that fits into the can?
does the cassette have crimped Silver coloured caps, or dull black crimpted caps
what is the bar code on teh cassette?
those are the signs I look for when trying to decide where the film was converted. NOW if one firm is shipping another firm "pancakes" of film, all those signs would match where the film is converted, even if it was coated somewhere else. (I got into this back when their was lots of private label colour film, and I preferred the look of Konica Color, under the name of the cheapest retailer I remember getting 10 rolls cheep when Canadian Tire had a sale on their Pulsar Brand.)

I have never understood why Canadians are so compelled to drive to Canadian Tire on Saturday mornings every Saturday. Can you explain that to me please?

Could it be the huge box of Tim Horton's in the customer lounge?

Well (this is of course off topic) But if you are working on a project you have to get everything you need early, so you can get started and still manage to make three or four trips BACK to Canadian Tire to get the parts and tools you did not think of on the first trip. (at least on your second trip you can spend the Canadian Tire Money from the first trip)

No customer Lounge at CTC. Might be a few chairs near the auto service desk, But if you do bring in a car for service they want you to wait by shopping in Housewares, or electronics, or tools (especially Tools) or sporting goods, or Camping equipment or skates or the Garden center, or sesonal, or even Auto chemicals.

What a load of horse cr*p!

The video reminded me of Ted Cruz trying to explain his Acapulco trip. Oh sorry, but everyone from Texas, who uses electricity will know to what I refer.:whistling:

Are the tires at Canadian Tire really Canadian or are they rebranded? Has anyone seen the tire data sheets?

I get the tactic.

Have your fun guys.

Incoming "This thread has clearly run its course."?
The temptation is overwhelming!
Perhaps it is just Fuji USA, trying to deal with the fact that they can't get film from Japan, so they've bought from a local supplier.
