Could be. The times in Rodinal are the same and going by memory, the D-76/ID-11 times are the same, too. However, Ilford says they will no longer rebrand their films. Ilford will make a new emulsion for someone, though. I'm as curious as the rest of you and wait to try this film when it hits the US and also await others findings.

Brand new emulsion ? That's a good sign. It looks, like demise of Efke films made a hole and it is very smart by Harman to fill it up. Just wonder, if they will make enough of it, for some of it to reach Canada.

This has been discussed to death with the previous RPX films, if they were the same as Ilford Pan 400, or Kentmere 400, or Kentmere 100...and the answer (has been) is that it's not. They are new emulsions. I think the same goes for this new film.

Anyways I'm really curious and will try this new film next time I place an order to mack. Not sure how to use it in our dark winter here, but I will find a way

Looks like you may be the first here on APUG to try it out. Don't forget to let us know your findings and whether it is anything like Pan F if you use such film.

I can wait until after Christmas for the report but as I get bored from Boxing Day onwards you will be sure to work all day on Xmas day in the darkroom, won't you .

I learned today that the average person can consume 7000 calories on Xmas day so I am doing you a big health favour.

Remember that Maco always is great at bragging about their latest products which usually turn out to be re-labelled stuff by Kentmere/Ilford or Efke. I suppose this will be no different here.
I have it on good authority that all other RPX products are actually Kentmere films.

My information comes from Mr Schroeder, the former boss at Maco who confessed to the identity of Rollei RPX films in a German photo forum. When asked about the "new" Agfa APX film , i.e. the films you can currently buy in Germany that are branded Agfaphoto, he answered on Nov. 8, 2013 that these films would be the same as Kentmere, resp. Rollei RPX films.

I don't think so. As I said, Kentmere is one of the possibilities. My money is rather on Efke 25.

The factory producing Efke has been shut over a year now ...

What evidence do you have for those (contradictory) statements about Harman?

My primary interest in this film is as a replacement for my Efke 25. I will do some testing against my current stock of Efke R25 and I also have a bit of Pan F 50 lying about so that is possible.

I'll develop this with D76 first since that is my primary developer, but if any of you have any suggestions I am certainly open. I also have some HC110, Rodinal, DDX and Diafine in the house right now. I really have no plans to pick up any other developers right now so that is the selection.

Although I would love to try this out in the P67 I won't be able to do that this time. I will be using the P645Nii since it is a very reliable camera and gives me more frames to play with. I also have a pretty decent selection of lenses for this camera.

I am not very experienced in film testing so any suggestions on how best to go about this is certainly appreciated.

I will be very surprised if this makes it to me very quickly so it is not likely that I will be able to do anything with it until after the Holiday Season.

I'll be trying it out in Xtol and Rodinal. Maybe something lower contrast if necessary.

I've only got 1 roll of Rollei Pan 25.. so I wont be making comparisons, I'll be saving that for landscapes.

Yes they are. RPX 400 is a batch of film, which someone ordered form Harmann. It is based on Kentmere 400, but the recipe was modified. The contract failed and the film left over.
The bad side: It exists only this single batcht. If it is sold out, we never get it again.

Kentmere/Ilford Harman will not produce brandnew emulsions for other companies, let alone for a company notorious for its rebranding, relabelling and its confusing market policies.

Harman do contract emulsion mixing and coating for anyone who comes to them with specifications of their own and the money to buy the results.

They have stated many times on this forum that they will not re-brand any of the films that they make and sell - either under the Ilford name or the Kentmere name.

I suppose that explains the different emulsion numbers on different batches of RPX 400 over time.

Concerning a statement of the former head of Maco Photo Kentmere 100 and RPX 100 are identical, Kentmere 400 and RPX 400 are not but still both made by Harman.

But this man has contradicted himself in the past.
