Andrew, did you tried Ilford SX 200 or Rollei IR 400 with deep red filter? They are pretty good in achieving the IR look.

Yes, I have been and still am using both… but I want something with a little more IR sensitivity, similar to Efke IR.

LIDAR has been around since the '60s.

I encourage Stone to get enough donations for a run of IR film. Kickstart one!

Stone , may be you mean ground penetrating radar ? GPR ? LIDAR is light echo device and sound , ELF or earth magnetism difference are used for underground.

When I was young , I was dreaming to electrify long welded train rails - may be 50 miles long - to create elf and listening the echo to find us missile bases underground in usa when I am sitting at the armchair in istanbul. If you interested , the best way is to listen the lightning elf echo. When you find soviet silos after that they find you  Other way is to listen echoes of kola soviet submarine transmitter or us submarine transmitters or alaska transmitter. there are lists of these transmitters. ELF radio is easy to make also. I was reading crazy sites and wanting to ask us submarine captain in pasific , stressed with 6 months in cramped place ,was his wife beatiful with elf waves

Haha! Similar to my Eastman Double-X 4x5 sheet film run? Hah!

The sad part is it truly almost happened and if we could have had 3 times the order we would have had the film CUT.

BUT, to get Kodak to run such a special film as HIE in 8x10 sheets (which is what I would want at this point) it would be MUCH more difficult to get it done, don't even know if the machine they used or the special IR proof room is the same room they use now to coat, and then the suppliers of the special chemicals need to be sourced etc, too much for a special run.

I just hope when I run out of my 8x10 EFKE IR820 that Rollie will perhaps do some 8x10 cutting of their Rollie IR 400 (which seems to be called Rollie IR 200 in sheet film).

Perhaps, I suppose either would be able to detect imperfections in the surface of the film emulsion though...

Remember that the size of object detectable by reflected radio waves is much larger than required for emulsion control, due to the relatively long wavelength. It might be possible to find a small horse dried in to the emulsion, but a thin patch or a hair or dust? Not really practical.

We were selected for submarine duty based on our psychological profiles. If we showed signs of not being able to deal with the life, we were transferred off quite quickly. All of us were volunteers, not all were accepted. One of the older members of our crew held the world record for time underway, under water. He had logged a total of over ten years under water, during his career.

We both shared a keen interest in photography.
