And now for the bad news.....for monochrome shooters. After waiting 2 months, I got an email from B&H that Heliopan yellow & orange filters in 34mm had been discontinued.
I have an orange filter on the way from SRB Photographic in the UK.
A36 will also fit

Kudos to SRB photographic in the UK. Their 34mm orange filter was 19 GBP/$24 USD....so under $50 delivered to N America. Made to order & delivered in less than 2 weeks. They may just be the last source for filters for the new CV 40mm 2.8 lens

Very cool resource!

I'm sort of cool on this lens as I have a 40 summicron c. It may not be the better of the two lenses but it is very decent. spent a fair amount of time dealing with the thread pitch problem for filters as well.

hap, I'm a huge 35mm lens fan & i used a 35 Elmar LTM for the longest time. But i got bitten by the black paint over brass construction of a handful of CV lenses & got the 40mm. I have to say i am very happy with the results. I had a brace of CLs when they came out & yes the hood/filter assembly on the Summicron C

was a bit of a nuisance

what finder are you using on the CL?

That's the metal Voigtlander 35mm (good enough IMO to make me sell my SBL00). I'm waiting for one of the old CV metal 40mm ones to turn up. For the time being i'm just using the 40mm lines on the camera.

NIce finder.. I bought a used Light Lens Lab SBLOO copy.

I had a few SBL00s, but they're a bit large on small cameras & the CV versions don't scratch my glasses.

No doubt, bulky on a barnack. I do use it on my 1932 Leica II.

I also have the Summicron C 40 - and it handles better than the CV just because the aperture ring stays put. And the focus knob is easier to use.
Optically the CV is much much more flare resistant, but apart from that the Summicron is fantastic.

thank you Huss for your reply.
I was considering the new CV Heliar LTM as would expand use across my several screwmounts and M mount cameras. However, I do have other LTM lenses that can keep me happy enough.....so haven't pulled my wallet out of the pocket yet. Some might say that placing a modern design and manufactured LTM lens is anathema for mounting on a vintage camera. I'm not totally in sync with that opinion.

The fiddly design and operation of the CV is very vintage.

I know a LOT about fiddly. I have an MS Optics 50mm 1.1 Sonnetar. It's crazy...but very small. Nothing is otherwise easy about it.

I mean it's fiddly but u get used to it. Just set aperture before you focus. The build quality and finish is really nice. And the optics are top notch.

Oh, I like the smell of fixer in the morning. CV 40 f2.8 / orange filter/ HP5+/ Print on Ilford Classic FB

Peppers has an injured leg, so I need to take him out in this wagon. He doesn't seem to mind...
