My good bud Ron mentioned to just remove the glass from the Tiffen filter!

The glass was really easy to remove from the Tiffen filter - just unscrew the retaining ring. Which is good because it can be put back in if I ever want that..

The upside is the Tiffen filter ring acts as a mini lenshood. Very reminiscent of what Leica offered for the 50 2.8M. Only bummer is it has Tiffen written on it, and that other stuff.

Is this lens a 5 element in four groups? Similar to a Planar construction? Or what? Haven’t seen much , actually no info or any info on lens design. Either on camera quest or www. Can anyone confirm or deny ???

From what I've seen its a 5 element/ 3 group design, Matt Osbourne on YouTube has a nice review of one although it looks as if he shows a 6 element/ 3 group Heliar diagram.

Those photos are very contrasty, but powerfully effective. I wonder what a different combination of developer/film would do?

Also wonder whether the LTM mount might be single-coated?

There's never been any indication that the M & LTM versions differ other than the mount.

I shot a few rolls of kolor film through it - including FPP Blue Ultra ISO 3 - and will have the results this coming w/e.

It is a very modern, sharp, contrasty lens. If you're looking for a softer look, this isn't the lens.

Well Huss, I like the lens. It's found a permanent home on my CL. I just came out of the darkroom. The film was TMax100, (yellow filter) which i've come to like very much....developed in Pyrocat HD. I printed in the style of Eric V S....over at the place w/ poor web design ..... 6x9" on 8x10" (Ilford Classic FB). I'll post some tomorrow when they're dry. The lens character (no surprise) reminds me of the CV 28mm f3.5 & the 50mm f 2.5. Crisp, good definition and very nice micro-contrast. A winner of a tiny lens in my estimation!

Excellent! Looking forward to seeing your results. The last pics I took with it were on a digital M, so I cannot post those here. But it currently is on a camera that has film in it, so soon I'll have some more fun with it!

The final set-up: Case from tporiginal.com. I never really cared for the CL/M5 vertical carry. The case is a bargain, beautifully made out of fine leather & puts the camera horizontal again. I made the strap for cross-body carry (great for climbing & skiing) with kangaroo leather from my friend Jo Brooks (https://www.instagram.com/alittlesatchel/). It's super strong, flexible and thinner than calf. The 40mm will be glued to the CL! (except for the occasional use of a 21mm)

Looks like a fine day in the neighbourhood Huss, & that CV draws nicely w/ color film.
Here, the ice is still slowly melting on the lake...

I just got the A-36
"Leica" copy cap from China
It's the perfect set-up for using on the 40mm 2.8 Heliar without the lenshood.
I'm still waiting for the 34mm orange filter to be in stock ........
