Never knew of 11 warld wars, there were only 2 in my memory . I and II are Roman numerals. 1 and 11 are Arab numerals. It's WWII. One usually pronounces it "second world war". Just like Pope Alexander VI is Alexander the Sixth (not Six), and the XX century is the twentieth century (not twenty). It's cardinal but it's read usually as an ordinal, as a strange custom of life. Exceptions apply. YMMV.

* Actually not really. Germany had already started a total war against Poland with the shelling of Warsaw. There was no total war between Germany and UK until the Berlin bombing, though.

My grandfather had nothing good to say about Churchill and considered him to be a warmonger.

That was probably the reason I never bothered to listen to your grandfather. He was the one who thought the Neville Chamberlain was a brilliant politician, wasn't he?

I'm sorry you take is in such an irritated way. Facts are facts.
Even the page you link says the same:

Obviously the bombing of Berlin has nothing to do, really, with the accidental and patently unintentional off-mark fall of some bombs directed to a RAF airport during a nocturne bombing raid. Besides, bombings take days (or weeks) to plan and execute. The Berlin bombing was probably planned in advance and would have been executed in any case. The off-mark German bombs were taken as an excuse in front of history, public opinion etc.

If you have an Encyclopaedia Americana at home or at your local library you find a very nice "Battle of Britain" article stating the point of view that I expressed above.

History it's history. Don't take it as a religion. Re-examination of history past is the only way to avoid falling into the same mistakes in the future.

Relax. If you don't declare war to them anymore, they won't bomb you anymore

No. He was one of the few people I have talked to who actually lived through the war years and told me of Churchill's eagerness to send in planes, ships, men, etc. as a show of force - often with disastrous consequences.

Nowdays the problem is that social media is sharing tons and tons of images that are copyrighted! When you have to register a trademark in south america you do a search, when you register an image with copyrights you start a process in the official office of the country. Once you have the process done, you can share the image and put the legal details.

The Germans bombed London during WWI with lighter than air and heavier craft.
The Germans had killed a lot of people before the UK and France delivered an ultimatum, eg in Spainish cities.

These days desktop monitor resolutions have increased to a common size of 1920x1080 pixels. There are larger monitor sizes too and there is a new standard of 4000 which is designed primarily for very high definition Video.

The result of this is that web developers are putting ever larger images into websites which will fill the screen without the image file being "stretched" so that they display with high quality. So currently an image size of around 2400x1600 will display at high quality on the vast majority of monitors.
The problem with this is that an image that size will make high quality 8x5.3in print or at 200dpi will give a decent enough 12x8inch print.
Also web images of 2400x1600 can be sucessfully upsized without losing too much quality.

So where in the past web images were to small to be of any use to anyone else except for web display, these days that isn't the case and I think placing very obvious watermarks with your web address in them is now required which is a PITA because it spoils the look of your image on the web. It does however disuade most people from trying to use your web images for financial gain or web use.

And note that in the original posting the link to the register says:

"The Act contains changes to UK copyright law which permit the commercial exploitation of images where information identifying the owner is missing"

I take that to mean that all you need to do is put a copyright notice in your image such as:

"©Joe Blogs www.mydomain.com"

and then no one can say the image is an orphan since the image contains your copyright notice, your name and your web address.
