Hi, folks, wanted to take a quick stop by and introduce those of you who haven't gotten to know Inked Magazine. Can you give us more information about "INKEDmagazine"?

Does it mean that it will be about prints produced by Epsons, Canons and other so called pseudo b&w printers and NOT baryteprints?

I think you start a very risky business.

Me, myself, I'm not interested ánd will not buy the magazine.
B&W 'is' fiber prints. The digital alternatives are fake.

I saw the 'over-photoshopped' images from Jeff Allu with the digital workflow.
That was already a hint for me ánd not my cup of tea.

The magazine will be like a Troyan Horse.

Good luck with the magazine. I just perused the online issue and I like the idea of unknown artists getting a chance. I also liked the option in the gallery of view film or digital. In the film Section, are the prints traditional as well, or would they be a mix of traditional and digital. If so would there be a distinction made about what is printed on what?

Seems to me Digital represents about 1/3 of the B/W photography being shown, sounds about right to me.

Sounds analog to me. Riight!

Fred is right.
"Thumbing" through it it appears to be largely devoted to digital monochrome, which probably accounts for its title. Looks like an interesting, well-done magazine if you want to keep abreast of the latest digital photo techniques. Not my cup of tea either but good luck with it.

It does appear to lean toward digital just like most other photo magazines. It's not my cup of tea either but everybody deserves the opportunity to make a living. Good luck.

Indeed the magazine will be a hidden promotor of digital techniques.
That's why it's called INKmagazine... not so hidden don't you think...

If my idea/feeling was a silly one, only future will judge about that.

Yeah, sorry, I checked it out and it seems to be a magazine dedicated to ink jet prints and their promotion as fine art.

Nothing wrong with that, I wish them all the success in the world, but it is not for me.

Take a look under their "Inked Prints Gallery" "Black and White Photography" and there are 6 photographers under "Film" and only 2 under "Digital". Looks right to me. There's also a Submissions pull down for anyone of us, film users, to submit work.

I was with you on this one BUT it may be their B/W Film photography is printed via Epson, etc. This would cut out any darkroom processing. Now that's a no-no.

Beats me! You'll have to ask them. I, too, am not in tune with the magazine's name but I cannot brush them off so summararily just because there might be some digital this or that. They are quite open, seems to me, to film-based photography so lets all of us swamp them with analog photography and maybe that'll make the digits go elsewhere.

I am definitely giving them a try for now and we'll see what happens 6, 7, 8 issues from now. If I don't like what they do then, I'll drop em. Simple as that.

Undue pain and suffering..

It appears that this is a college level production. Reading through the first article, which is a bit trite at times, most of the interviews were with what appears to be students and faculty.

The magazine seems to be promoting the idea only B/W photographs are considered fine prints. An idea that I'm sure the color film users here will dispute or be offended by.

This posting is an obvious attempt at free promotion. Unfortunately the promoter appears to have not studied the demographics of APUG and may have brought some undue criticism upon the publication. An understanding of the acronym used in this sites title might have given an indication of the audience.

Anyway, this may be the dawn of a new niche in the digital/hybrid workflow, the B/W inkjet print...it may be our not too distant future.

In the "Sales" section, the film photographers don't seem to indicate whether they are selling photographic prints or ink jet images. I would be curious to know if they are a Digital/Traditional or Digital/Hybrid magazine. The title of the magazine is a source of confusion.
They state that they are devoted to monochrome, they don't claim to be exclusively traditional or new tech and it appears that they are not. There is no dishonesty here. Almost all photographic magazines and websites cater to the wide interest in digtal imaging these days. That is their business model, It reminds me to appreciate APUG even more.

Anyway, this may be the dawn of a new niche in the digital/hybrid workflow, the B/W inkjet print...it may be our not too distant future.

Unless I'm mistaken, one of the photographers quoted in an article was "Mr M S", subject of a recent thread. Apparently, he's been banned from APUG. I'm not getting a good feeling about this.

I saw that quote from "a hobbiest in Columbus, Ohio". And knew that the name was familiar, and I associated it with APUG, but I just couldn't place it.
