Is there a name for the little screw / socket adapter for never ready cases? I need one for my yashica mat.

The german designation is Taschenschraube, in translation that would be case screw.
Two german manufacturers called it camera retaining screw.

The screw reference I understand.
The adapter reference - not so much.

With adapter he might refer to a knurled thread adapter. There are countless models of photo screws.

Perhaps you are concerned that the feet on some TLR Yashicas extend beyond the plane of the tripod affixing socket. I have tried a number of things. I use something similar to this on occasion; it allows the feet of the tripod to hang down.

Actually it's the screw that doesn't extend far enough to reach the socket through the leather. I have that same style ball head and mount.

Those case screws exist in different lenghts. The original ones have a slit for a lock washer, to keep the screw at the case.

Has it’s the thing that makes it very difficult to get the case off the tripod

Only if one does not have very, very slim fingers...

The old tripods had mounting studs that were as small in diameter as these curled screws.
