Hello friends,

today I shot a roll of Neopan 400 at 640 ASA - a portrait work in studio, halogen light, developed in Diafine 4.5+4.5 min. This combo works perfectly - almost no grain, excellent compensation and skin halftones!! I wonder for how long should I develop Neo 400 in Microphen 1+3, when I want more contrast than Diafine gives me? Strangely enough, the Massive Dev Chart does not have this time... anyone using it, please?

Cheers,
Zhenya

Ilford's pdf file called Powder Developers shows a time for Neopan400 at 400 for Microphen 1+3. They suggest 9 minutes at 20degC, for what it's worth.

Neopan does quite well in dilute developers, so it might be a good choice. Please let us know if you try it.

The pdf is at:

Thanks, John!
I will post my results as soon as I get them  I noticed that the Neopan should behave good in diluted developers like R09 1+60, so I wanted to develop it with 1+3 Microphen just to follow the trend

Diafine is a good choice for Neopan 400 - I didn't expect such results, really! I use my homebrew Diafine, however, so my results may be slightly different of those obtained with original product. I just had no opportunity to test it, bu tI'm quite happy with my version.

Regards from Moscow,
Zhenya
