Hi, my Opemus iii comes with negative holder that have 2 glass place on top and bottom clamp together to work. By pulling it in and out I afraid will soon scratch it. Is it possible to enlarge the 6x6 negative without the glass?

Some people get rid of the glass in negative carriers because of problems with dust. afaik, never because of scratches on the glass.

What holds the bottom piece of glass? Yep, metal.

What holds the top piece of glass? Yep, metal.

So if anything is going to get scratched, it is the metal that holds the glass. Don't worry about scratches, worry about dust.

None of my negative holders use glass, and I enlarge most formats from 135 through 4x5. I used to have a Durst that had a glass carrier, never ending issues with dust and if not careful I would scratch my negatives.
