Apologies for another question from an “alt curious“ newbie :smile:— what densities are most of you looking for in your negatives? At first blush, I would expect them to have a CI close to the salt print end of things, but I’ve also seen a few references advocating negatives similar to those for pt/pd prints.

Which brings me to a second question, how much variance can there be between suitable negatives? What I want to be true is that if there is a reasonable amount of tooth in the gelatin, a person could vary their inking to account for the differences between different negatives. Of course, since I’m often wrong about such things, how does one go about calibrating if an optimal negative is vital?
