Hey so I am new to this forum and I figure this would be where to post this.
I am planning a trip to go and visit a friend in Hannover this summer. I somehow see trying to clear security with a plethora of 4x5 film, bulk rolls of 35mm and developer a painful experience. I was wondering if someone could recommend a good store that isn't too far from Hannover to pick up the above mentioned supplies.

FEDEX or UPS?

Did you think of sending it ahead of your arrival via FEDEX or UPS? Obviously, you would need an address, or maybe you could find a firm which receives parcels near where you will be staying. - David Lyga.

Maybe your friend could order them for you. The above mentioned are all OK, I prefer fotoimpex, nordfoto and macodirect.

Because of the security alert sending your film to Germany might not be a such a good idea at the moment.

WOW! Thanks guys. I'm sending a few things in advance (this really neat thing that lets you do 4x5 in a patterson tank and some other portable darkroom stuff) I am going to order the chemicals by mail order. Thanks for the help guys.
Cheers

Patrick: A bit OT, but Patrick, may I know to what neat thing you're referring to that lets you process 4x5 in Paterson tanks?

Phototec and Nordfoto are legally different companies but physically seemingly the same.

patrick: Thanks for the link! I wonder which Paterson tank it's supposed to be used with? I think it's the 4-reel one. I only have the smallish 2 reel model.

Hi Patrick,

as some others have already mentioned, buying online at nordfoto, macodirekt, fotoimpex, technikdirekt, phototec, foto-brenner, lumiere, calumet is the best way to get film cheap, and to get sheet film quite fast.

To buy film locally you can go to Foto Haas in Hannover ( www.foto-haas.de ).
They have 35mm and rollfilm from Kodak, Fuji and Ilford (even some professional film refrigerated). They can order sheet film for you (delivery time about ten days). Film prices are significantly higher compared to online shops like macodirekt, nordfoto or fotoimpex.
They are running one of the latest Fuji Frontier mini labs (135 and 120 film) and do an excellent job printing on Fuji Chrystal Archive paper.

Another option for 35mm film are drug store chains: dm, Rossmann and Schlecker shops are almost at every corner of the street .
They offer cheap color negative film ( Kodak and house brand film, most of it is from Fuji), Kodak Elite Chrome 100 color reversal film and Kodak BW 400 CN BW film.

Professional labs in Hannover (developing of your sheet films):
