Need some help identifying a problem

Hi guys,

Recently purchased an Olympus OM-1 and went through a roll of Fujifilm Superia 400ISO film. This was the first roll I put through and I'm getting some weird lines of light on some pictures, but not all.
Was hoping someone could help me identify the problem, as I said it's only happening with some photos. In the first and second pictures you can clearly see a line through the entire left hand side of the frame, in the third there are multiple lines starting at the top and one the whole way through on the right and the last picture which was taken on the same roll has them very subtly. But there are also pictures from the roll where there are none at all.
I haven't had the camera serviced and I'm currently getting the lens thoroughly cleaned and serviced by a professional but if anyone could identify the exact problem that'd be great.

You need to look at the negative or scan the negative as a film strip and post the scan as a negative.
But looks like you shutter has a problem.
If the problem is also in the rebates then the light is not coming through the shutter which is why we need to see the scan with rebates.

Bad light seals on the back and or sticky shutter. The camera needs a CLA.

Replacing the light seals only needs mouse mat and double sided pressure sensitive tape.

Make drawing of them before removal. Replace the dinky ones in mirror box as well remove the screen first.

Fire the shutter 1000 times may clear the problem, the OM shutters are pretty good for blind speed, the wind on logic normally jams first.

If you use force on the shutter button you need a new part to replace the broken part.

Were these processed in a mini-lab machine or DIY using a tank?
Some of the marks look to possibly align with sprocket holes which could be caused by surging of the chemistry through the holes. But that wouldn't be typical for mini-lab processing, though possible I suppose. With tank processing, it's fairly common.
Mini-lab processing problems such as scratches or contamination on rollers usually occur along the length of the film.

As mentioned before, examination of the rebate area should tell the tale. If the streaks are dark, and extend through the rebate, then it's most likely a shutter issue, or possibly some other sort of light-leak caused by bad light traps (seals).
Light leaks around the film door can be temporarily resolved by using black tape which would also serve as a test to determine whether the light is coming through the shutter or the seals.

Light leak. Replace the seals in the back w/ some yarn (google it), or tape up the back and run another roll of film through it to confirm this. I'm quite sure its a light leak, as a shutter issue would be on the very ends, not where you have it. Back leaks will be intermittent, depending on which direction the camera is pointed.

Looks like light seals to me. I've changed a number of them. Messy but not too difficult. Foam kit available on eBay for 10-17 dollars. Bill Barber

could be light leak and poor developing!
