Need help on Microdol-X

According to Data Sheet (J4027) for Microdol-X, a gallon of M-X can develop 16 x 135-35 films OR 4800 square inches.

But 1 x 135-35 is 80 square inches. So 16 films equal to 1280 sq inches.

I think the Data Sheet refers to 1 litre of developer, right?

Secondly, what would be the time compensation for a liter of full strength developer?
Increase 15% every 5 films developed, like Xtol?

The datasheet states that you can develop 16 films with 1 gal of M-X without replenishment, or 60 with replenishment. Of course, the replenisher has been discontinued. On the other hand, you can always dilute to 1+3.

Kodak does list somewhat of a replacement for the replenisher, something like a gallon size bag of MDX made with only 3 quarts of water, and the addition of extra sodium carbonate I think. Its in their tech pub about MDX.

For years I have always diluted Microdol-X with water 1+3 and processed all of my films (from speeds of 100-600) at that dilution ratio at 74-75 degrees for 17-18 minutes and gotten gorgeous full tonality with wonderful highlight and shadow details.

I think 1 gallon = 16 film is a type error. It should read 1 liter = 16 film without replenishment.

I know many use 1+3 dilution but I like to use full strength. Anyone for time compensation for each film developed?

Edward, 1 US gallon/16 = 237ml* (8 fl oz) and that's what they mention at the datasheet. I'm afraid that's not a typo.

* Just enough for a 1 film tank.

Anon, now I am confused. It does add up in your calc, so as mine.
It says a gallon of developer can develop 4800 square inches of film.
We all know that 135-36 or 120 film has 80 square inches. So, 60 of these films can be developed with a gallon.
A US gallon = 3.79L, so each liter developes 15.8 films, say 16.
