I recently bought this body, along with some FL lenses and didn't think much of it; I was mostly interested in the lenses. Trying to ID the camera (in an attempt to find out how old it is), I tried the Canon Camera Museum but couldn't find it there. It's obviously an FT QL, but what about the engraved "LF"?

I assume it is an engraved monogram imitating the original typeface.
The colour hue of the paint is slighly more yellow.
The F's are different too.

I admit doing so would need to have/to make a stencil with that typeface first. Maybe one could work from a large-cale drawing. By pantograph anyway.

But if you'd find out who FL was, maybe it is precious never the less. Or just precious due to this kind of work.

Thanks guys. It certainly seems like a custom engraving, made to look like the font used by Canon and not an über-rare original Canon...

Still, that kind of work can't have been very cheap. It would be interesting to know the provinence.
