Need a quick sanity check. Quicker is better (Dektol looks like espresso)

Mixing dektol per instructions, sealed bag. Looks like a gallon of espresso with foam on top. Instructions were follwed. What am I looking at here? There were no variables. Clean everything, distilled H20. this is not right. Is this the new dektol? Came in a kodak bag, but the amount of chem only filled the bottom. I can't be the only one.

Sounds like Sino Promise (Sino Problems)

There was a batch of Dektol that mixed up that way. It apparently works the same, but it doesn't look the same, and makes developing by inspection problematic.
The problem was fixed for future batches, and Kodak Alaris then Sino Promise replaced problematic bags - including some for me - but then Covid happened and Sino Promise was and may still be having real difficulties.

The color issue with Dektol has been solved.

New batches of DEKTOL with date codes of January 2021 or later are completely normal.

US distributors reordering DEKTOL in 2021 are receiving these new batches.

Like Matt said, it was from a bad batch. I had the same issue over a year ago. The Kodak rep told me it was still OK, but promised to send me replacements for the Dektol and the root beer colored D76.

I'm still waiting........:>(

I buy only the OLD D76 and Dektol packets and tins from eBay. It's gone fine ever since I switched to that.
