Okay,
I have used Light Impressions for a long time. I have put up with their high prices and their take for ever shipping ways, and now I ordered supplies and never got it and when I e-mailed them never got an answer. I know that some photographic shores carry odds and ends but don't carry everything LI does.

I need a new source. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Andersen:rolleyes:

Well, I would start with an apug sponsor such as Frames Destination. I have also used American Frame (for frames). There are also the art supply houses, such as Dick Blick.

A Google search will yield you many other sources.

I have to comment that I have never had such problems with Light Impressions. I know that there have been threads in the past that belittled LI almost to the level of the Kodak bashing that occurs here, but I've never really understood the phemomenon. Have you tried calling them? Something is not right.

I agree with you about Light Impression's prices. I haven't ordered from them in years and, even then, it was for something that I couldn't anywhere else at the time. But that was before the Internet when you had to find sources in magazines, etc., and order paper catalogs. I find that I can get just about anything I might need from Light Impressions from regular sources like B&H, Calumet, and even my local art supply/framing shop. Light Impressions still send me their catalogs which is useful to browse to see if there is anything I would like or need but I haven't had any problems getting the same stuff from other sources.

I will try the other sources that you have mentioned. The reason I just don't Google is anyone can be on Google, I'm looking for a good source that many of us Photographers can rely on. I don't want to just hit and miss.
I had ordered boxes and film negative sleeves. and some odds and ends. i'm not here to belittle them I just have gotten tried of there customer service and so I'm moving on.

I am waiting on a response to a post I put in the sponsor area for Frame Destinations.

I have used Light Impressions almost exclusively for years. The prices have gone up a lot and the service has become less reliable, as you say taking a long time for shipping with high shipping prices. Also, I never like it that the shopping cart never shows the multigroup discount for buying multiple items in the same category. I have to wait for the invoice which just shows a price without reflection of a discount. Etc.

However, I bought a bunch of frames from an internet shop that I found just by browsing. The frames were poorly cut, fit erratically, and were dirty and covered with little aluminum burrs. So I am still with Light Impressions.

Have any of you bought Nielson aluminum frames from Frame Destinations? I am on the verge of buying a bunch of frames and wonder if there frames are cut precisely and arrive well packed and clean.

Hi, for sleeves and boxes, check out printfile.com. I haven't ordered from them, but have them in mind for sleeves, print boxes, mat board, and negative storage boxes. They are in Florida and I believe have free shipping if your order totals over a certain amount.

Lumiere Photo may be an option. Located in Rochester, NY, it is run by the guy who ran Light Impressions for years. He sold that business and the buyers moved in to California.

My experience with Lumiere is that doing business with them is like doing business with Light Impressions 15 years ago.
