I have had my Hakuba camera pack for a LONG time. It suited all of my needs and was pretty much bullet proof. I could carry a 5x7 in it with all the trimmings. When my eldest was a baby he would sit on the top of the bag to ride on my shoulders, then his brother took that spot when he got "too old to ride on daddies shoulders". That bag and I went through a lot. I had my 5x7 up at our shop this December working on a project when we went away for a couple of weeks. I could not take it so packed it all up but left it in the shop. We returned to half the shop flooded in waste oil. God I HATE waste oil heaters. You have all seen the scene in bad comedy movies where something bad happens and there is a quick zoom in on the character or object that accentuates the bad thing. That is what happened to me. There in the middle of the shop in the middle of the oil was my camera case. It was a bowel releasing moment. The 5x7 was in it with 3 lenses, film holders, and filters. I had no idea how long it sat in the oil. A minimum of a week though.
Long story short the bag held off the oil. The back and sides were saturated. There must have been a liner in it somewhere because there was no oil in the bag. Everything was perfectly fine.
The bag was given a proper disposal and now I have no bag to replace it.
What do you folks use?
